Mount Vernon Mustangs 9, Corsica Horned Frogs 4

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon will be the No. 5 seed in the Sunshine League tournament after defeating Corsica Sunday.

The Mustang offense was led by Spencer Neugebauer’s 3-for-4 day, including a walk and two RBIs, Eric Giblin also batted 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI, Bradley Dean and Chase Hetland each drove in two runs on one hit, including a homer by Dean. Brady Albrecht collected an RBI on a single, while Cameron Deinert and Taite Klumb each tallied two hits in the victory.

Giblin took the victory on the mound in an eight-inning effort, issuing four runs on nine hits and a walk, striking out five batters.

For Corsica, Nathan Blom took the loss allowing seven runs on 10 hits and four walks, striking out just two batters in five innings.

Tyson Wentland drove in two runs on one hit. Ryan Buck and Kiefer Johnson each tallied an RBI on one hit and Luke Bamberg cracked two hits, including a double. Caleb Crist, Blake Moke, Blom, and Brendan Wentland each had hits in the loss.


Wessington Springs Owls 6, Burke Bombers 0 (7 innings)

BURKE — Mason Schelske’s 10 strikeouts helped Wessington Springs defeat Burke in a Pony Hills League doubleheader Sunday.

Schelske tossed all seven innings for the Owls, allowing just six hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Clay Olinger paced the Wessington Springs offense with a three-RBI single, Drew Olinger drove in two runs on a hit, Dylan Schimke drove in a run on one hit, while Blake Larson, Tyson Lien, and Parker DeJean each tallied hits in the win.

For Burke, Hunter Van Niewenhuyse took the loss in three innings on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits.

Ben Witt tallied two hits in the loss, while Aaron Sundquist, Coy Determan, JJ Beck, and Tommy Determan each cracked hits for Burke.


Canova Gang 4, Dell Rapids PBR 3

CANOVA — Jack Neises’ walk-off double gave Canova a Cornbelt League victory over Dell Rapids PBR Sunday.

Nieses batted 1-for-4 with an RBI double, Jared Miller batted 2-for-3 with a solo homer, Justin Miller drove in a run on one hit, Kendall Gassman tallied an RBI batting 1-for-3 with a walk, while Cole Gassman, Tyler Genzlinger, Derek Miller, Garrett Gassman, and Riley Genzlinger each tallied hits in the victory.

Justin Miller earned the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk in one inning of relief.

For Dell Rapids, Trey Randel took the loss in two innings pitched, allowing one hit while striking out one in two innings of relief.

Tim Wilhelmsen drove in two runs on one hit, Zach Puetz tallied an RBI on one hit, while Nate McKee hit a double in the loss.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 3, Chamberlain Mallards 1(7 innings)

KIMBALL — Ethan Price tossed 12 strikeouts in a Pony Hills League victory over Chamberlain Sunday.

Price allowed just one run on four hits and two walks in seven innings of work for the Nationals, striking out 12 batters to earn the victory.

Dylanger Pierson drove in a run on one hit and a walk, Caden Lenz hit an RBI-double, while Carter Lenz and Jonny Lyons each tallied hits in the win.

For Chamberlain, Evan Steiner took the loss allowing three runs on four hits and a walk in six innings, striking out eight batters.

Braydon Kreofsky, Dakota Munger, Steiner, and Sandler Wiekamp each tallied hits in the loss.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 4, Chamberlain Mallards 3 (7 innings)

KIMBALL — Jaxon Christensen hit a walk-off single to lift Kimball/White Lake past Chamberlain in Pony Hills League action on Sunday.

The Nationals trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. But Trent Wookey evened the score at 3-3 on an RBI single before Christensen’s walk-off hit. Christensen finished 2-for-4. 

Dylan Konechne hit a solo home run for the Nationals. Jonny Lyons, Keaton Christensen, Caden Lenz and Carter Lenz added hits. Lyons earned the win, striking out three batters, allowing seven hits, one earned run and walking three batters in four relief innings. 

For Chamberlain, Sandler Wiekamp had two hits and drove in two runs. Braydon Kreofsky, Matt Hilson, Dakota Munger, Kyle Forester, Scott Dourghty and Chris Schwartz had hits. Schwartz took the loss, allowing five hits, two earned runs and one walk in 1.2 innings. 

Volga Cormorants 7, Clark Traders 5 (5 innings)

VOLGA — Kyler Bezdichek smacked two home runs in an Eastern Dakota League victory over Clark Sunday.

Bezdichek batted 2-for-2 with two homers driving in four runs, Dylan Vosburg drove in two runs on one hit, Noah Puetz tallied two hits, including a double, Connor Gross drove in a run on double, while Tate Steffensen and Damian Danziesen each tallied hits in the loss.

Vosburg earned the victory on the mound for the Cormorants, issuing five runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out nine batters in five innings.

For Clark, Jess Karber took the loss in 4.1 innings pitched, allowing seven runs on nine hits and a walk, striking out one batter.

Andrew Magedanz batted 3-for-3 with two home runs, John Koenig smacked a solo home run, Wesley Jones batted 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Grayson Florey collected two hits, one double, in the loss. 


Salem Cubs 8, Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 7

SALEM — Salem’s three run eighth-inning lifted the Cubs to a Cornbelt League victory over the Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks Sunday.

Jon Forster led the Cubs offense with two hits,a walk, and two RBIs, Tyler Cleveland and Jacob Vonberge each drove in a run on a hit and a walk, Isaac Anderson tallied two hits and an RBI, while Bobby Koepsell, Luke Loudenburg, and Tyler Earls each tallied hits in the victory.

Braeden Kerkhove took the victory on the mound in three innings of work, issuing two runs on a hit and three walks, striking out six.

For H/H, Briggs Havlik took the loss in 1.2 innings, issuing one run on four hits and a walk, striking out two batters.

Loren Jacobsen tallied two hits, a walk, and two RBIs, Broc Haldeman drove in a run on a double and two walks, Chad Morrison drove in a run on a walk, while Havlik, Ryan Healy, Joe Hanisch, and Adam Hentges each tallied hits in the loss.


Mitchell Aces 5, Sioux Falls Brewers 2

MITCHELL — Peyton Mandel’s complete game on the mound lifted Mitchell to an amateur baseball victory Sunday.

Mandel issued just two runs on eight hits and two walks in nine innings, along with fanning five batters to earn the victory on the mound for the Aces.

Mandel drove in two runs on two hits for Mitchell, Hudson Borgan and Colin Stange collected one hit and one RBI, Hudson Haley drove in a run on a sac-fly, Lincoln Bates tallied two hits, including a double, while Carter Miller and Parker Mandel each tallied hits in the win.

For Sioux Falls, Drue Soukup took the loss allowing four runs on six hits and a walk in three innings pitched.

Andrew Glovich tallied three hits, including a double for the Brewers, Sam Baier drove in a run on two hits, including a double, while Soukup drove in a run on one hit in the loss as well.


Redfield Dairy Queen 14, Castlewood Ravens 6

CASTLEWOOD — Redfield capped off an undefeated season with a victory over Castlewood in non-league amateur baseball action Sunday.

Camden Osborn and Nathan Hainy each drove in three runs in the victory, Osborn tallied three hits and a double while Hainy batted 2-for-4. 

Bennett Osborn drove in two runs on two hits, including a double, Nolan Gall tallied three hits, a double, a walk, and an RBI, Christian DeYoung tallied two hits and an RBI, while Peyton Osborn and Cooper Hainy each tallied a hit and an RBI, including a double by Hainy.

Bennett Osborn earned the victory on the mound, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk in three innings, fanning six batters.

For Castlewood, Kyler Tvedt took the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits in two innings pitched.

Nate Phinney batted 4-for-4 with a walk, homer, and two RBIs, Gus Stieger tallied three hits, including a solo homer, Lucas Ching collected an RBI on two hits and a walk, while Adam Ching batted 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs in the loss as well.


Elkton Snappers 12, Renner Rangers 5

RENNER — Elkton pounded 16 hits in a non-league amateur baseball victory over Renner Sunday.

Dave Bierman batted 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Aiden Erickson collected two hits, a walk, and two RBIs, Jordan Beck drove in two runs on three hits, Charles Harming drove in a run on two doubles and a walk, Brady Steffen, Eliot Erickson, and Logan Kuehl each tallied one hit and one RBI, while Dylan Kuehl and Aidan Stewart each cracked hits in the victory.

Bierman earned the win on the mound in two shutout innings, walking just one batter while fanning two more.

For Renner, Kenny Tomek took the loss in 4.1 innings, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits and six walks, striking out six batters.

Dane Yde drove in two runs on one hit, Tomek and Josh Kaiser each drove in a run on two hits while Caleb Van Wagoner had two hits, including a double.


Freeman Blacksox 15, Parkston Mudcats 8

PARKSTON — Freeman erupted for 28 hits in a non-league amateur baseball win over the Mudcats on Sunday.

Rocky Ammann and Sam Gillespie both recorded four hits, while Gillespie drove in a run. Jonah Hofer and Bailey Sage both hammered home runs. Hofer finished 2-for-4 and drove in four runs, while Sage had three hits and two RBI. Jake Weier, Mitch Wollman and Jackson Fiegen each had three hits, while Weier knocked in three runs. Lee Scherschlight, Evan Sharberg and Clint Dangel had two hits apiece. Austin Smidt earned the win, allowing six earned runs, four walks, eight hits and struck out two batters in six innings. 

For Parkston, Tyson Kogel had two hits, a home run and drove in four runs. Brady Nolz and Dylan Mogck had two hits apiece. Nolz, Mogck, Ryan McGinnis and Dillon Stadlman each drove in runs. Jeff Harris took the loss, surrendering 20 hits, eight earned runs and striking out two batters in six innings. 


Flandreau Cardinals 7, Flandreau Blue Teal 0

FLANDREAU — Four Cardinal pitchers limited the Blue Teal to just three hits in a Cornbelt League victory Sunday.

Dallas Schneiderman earned the victory on the mound for the Cardinals, allowing two hits in six innings of work, striking out eight batters.

Grant Hieb drove in three runs on two hits, Austin Koenig batted 5-for-5 with a double, Brian McGuire drove in two runs on two hits, while Beau Severtson tallied an RBI on a double.

For the Blue Teal, Ethan Johnson took the loss in six innings pitched, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks, striking out three.

Mason RIley tallied two hits, including a double, while Kolby Peters had one hit in the loss.


Four Corners 13, Plankinton F&M Bankers 3 (8 innings)

HAYES — Noah Hainy tossed eight strikeouts and drove in three runs as Four Corners defeated Plankinton in Pony Hills League action Sunday.

Hainy batted 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and three RBIs while allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings pitched, striking out eight batters to earn the victory on the mound for 4C.

Shea Connot batted 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Sam Hand and Austin Hand each drove in a run on one hit and a walk, Andrew Cloverdale and Jason Overweg each drove in a run, while Kris Dozark and Andrew McCloud each tallied hits in the win.

For Plankinton, Drew Gerlach took the loss in seven innings, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits and seven walks, striking out four.

Thomas Stange batted 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, and an RBI, Devin Mehlhaff drove in a run on two walks, while Riley Schmeling and Keagan Hill each tallied hits in the loss for the Bankers.

 

Winner Demons 13, Colome Chaos 3 (7 innings)

COLOME — Four Winner batters collected three hits apiece during a Pony Hills victory over Colome Sunday.

Kayleb Brozik batted 3-for-5 with a solo home run, Landon Calhoon batted 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, Justin Hausmann collected three hits and an RBI, Shane Phillips added three hits, Casey Heenan and Ethan Bartels each drove in two runs on one hit and a combined three walks, while Ashton Klein drove in two runs on a walk and two sac-flies as well.

Hausmann earned the victory on the mound allowing three runs on five hits and six walks, striking out eight batters in six innings.

For Colome, Kevin Carter took the loss in 5.2 innings, surrendering nine runs on 10 hits and five walks, fanning eight batters.

Carter Brickman hit a three-run homer, Ethan Vobr collected two hits, while Cameron Biggins and Carter each tallied hits in the loss


Tea Steam 29, Parker Ringnecks 0 (5 innings)

PARKER — Tea pounded out 25 hits driving in 29 runs during a State Line League victory over Parker Sunday.

Jason Munoz led the way batting 5-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs, Troy Ljunggren collected two hits, a homer, and five RBIs, Michael Buchmann had two hits, a double and a homer, a walk, and four RBIs, Seth Altwine drove in three runs on a home run, Logan Boom drove in three runs on three hits, including a double, while Marcus Bolin and Nathan Babb each had two RBIs, with Babb batting 5-for-5 with two doubles and Bolin tallying two hits and a walk.

Trey Heckenlaible and Dawson Portner combined to drive in three runs on two hits and two walks, with Heckenlaible tallying two doubles.

Four Tea pitchers split for the victory on the mound, tossing five no-hit innings, striking out six batters while allowing just two walks.

For Parker, Justin Brehmer took the loss, issuing 23 runs on 19 hits and five walks in three innings.

Jevin Erickson and Chris Hathcock each drew walks in the loss.
