Wessington Springs 14, Plankinton 12

CHAMBERLAIN — Wessington Springs outlasted Plankinton for a District 3B amateur baseball tournament win on Monday. The teams combined for 26 runs, 30 hits and 10 errors. 

Terrek Butterfield finished with a team-high three hits for the Owls, who logged 17 hits. Tyson Lien added two hits and drove in three runs. Camden Jost finished 2 of 5 and knocked in three runs. Cade Mohling finished with two hits and drove in two runs. Derek Olinger and Mason Schelske had two hits and an RBI apiece. Parker DeJean had two hits. Starter Dalton Mogck lasted the first 5.2 innings, surrendering six hits, zero earned runs, three walks and struck out one batter. 

For Plankinton, Thomas Stange went 3 of 5 and drove in four runs. Drew Gerlach had two hits and drove in three runs. Griffin Tobin had two hits and two RBI, while Devin Mehlhaff drove in two runs. Ryland DeVries started and lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 13 hits, eight earned runs, two walks and struck out four batters. 


Milbank 4, Castlewood Monarchs 0

CLARK — Milbank’s Dom Boerger mowed down 21 batters and threw a three-hit shutout in a District 1B amateur baseball tournament win on Monday. 

Boerger issued zero walks on 115 pitches in the complete-game performance. He added a hit and an RBI at the plate. Merik Junker, Mitch Quade and Taylor Boerger had two hits apiece. Kellen Hoeke drove in two runs, while Quade drove in a run.

For Castlewood, Blayne Schliesman, Brady Steffen and Booker Schooley each had hits. Jacob Tvedt took the loss after allowing 12 hits, four earned runs, two walks and struck out six batters in eight innings. 


Dimock-Emery 3, Parkston Devil Rays 0

PARKSTON — Phil Johnson threw a four-hit shutout as Dimock-Emery picked up a District 5B amateur baseball tournament win on Monday.

Johnson struck out five batters on 113 pitches, while he had a hit at the plate. 

Drew Kitchens finished 2 of 4, while Peyton Nash drove in two runs. Parker Bollinger knocked in a run. 

For the Devil Rays, Seth Muth, Jonah Schmidt, Brayden Jervik and Jake Helleloid had hits. Ty Neugebauer took the loss after scattering six hits, allowing three earned runs, four walks and struck out four batters in his eight-inning start. 


Parkston Mudcats 13, Corsica-Stickney 2

PARKSTON — The Parkston Mudcats tallied 16 hits en route to a District 5B amateur baseball tournament win on Monday, 

Luke Bormann powered Parkston with three hits and four RBI. Matt Malloy and Jeff Harris had three hits and drove in a run. Cole Knippling went 2 of 3 and drove in two runs. Kaleb Weber added two hits and Dan Bonte drove in two runs. Nate Doering earned the win after allowing five hits, two earned runs, zero walks and struck out six batters in his seven-inning start. 

For Corsica-Stickney, Sean Pinkerton, Luke Bamberg, Ryan Buck, Blake Moke and Jordan Dirkes had hits. Bamberg and Moke drove in runs. Brendan Wentland took the loss after allowing eight hits, seven earned runs, five walks and struck out one batter in his 3.1-inning start.
