Irene Cardinals 10, Freeman Blacksox 8

WYNOT — Irene pounded out 15 hits as it upset No. 3 Freeman in South Central League tournament action Friday.

Dustin Livingston and Marcus VanDriel each had three hits and an RBI, Anthony De La Torre Guiglielmana had two RBIs on two hits, one double, Alex Kopf had two hits while Preston Gall, Jake Delange and Bryant Knodel each tallied an RBI on one hit in the win. Livingston tossed five innings for Irene, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks in five innings of work.

For Freeman, Jackson Fiegen allowed nine runs on 12 hits and a walk in six innings pitched, striking out five. Bailey Sage had three hits, two doubles, a homer, walk and three RBIs, Jake Weier drove in two runs on a homer and two walks, Fiegen added two hits, a walk and an RBI, while Clint Dangel recorded two hits in the loss for the Blacksox.

 

Parkston Devil Rays 7, Mount Vernon Mustangs 6

MOUNT VERNON — Dylan Soulek launched a walk-off homer on the first pitch of the ninth inning as Parkston defeated Mount Vernon, advancing to the District 5B semifinals Thursday.

Soulek finished with a solo homer, adding a walk in the win, Tanner Dyk drove in a run on one hit, Caden Donahue had one hit while Cody Larson tallied an RBI on a walk in the win. Jake Helleloid earned the victory on the mound throwing 22 strikeouts in a nine-inning performance, allowing three runs on four hits and eight walks.

For MV, Deric Denning allowed seven runs on three hits and five walks in eight innings, striking out 11 in the loss. Eric Giblin had two hits and an RBI, Brady Albrecht tallied an RBI on one hit, Denning had two walks and two RBIs, while Chase Hetland drew three walks and drove in a run in the loss.


Alexandria Angels 11, Corsica Horned Frogs 0 (8 innings)

MOUNT VERNON — Alexandria hit five home runs as the Angels advanced in Sunshine League tournament play Friday.

Jackson Jarding had two hits, a homer and two RBIs, Tyson Gau tallied a solo homer and a walk, Landon Ruesink drove in two runs on a homer to force the mercy rule, Peyton Smith hit a solo home run, adding a hit and two walks as well, while Cole Wenande drove in a run on one hit in the win as well. Alex Ferrin to the win on the mound in seven shutout innings, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters.

For Corsica, Tyson Wentland allowed three runs on four hits and four walks in five innings of a start, striking out seven. Jayce Slaba, Logan Bakker, Blake Moke, Nathan Blom, Teddy Slaba, Carter Wright and Reggie Slaba each had a hit in the loss.


Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 7, Salem Cubs 4

MADISON — Jearl Jesson tossed three shutout innings and drove in two runs as the Wood Ducks advanced in Cornbelt League action Friday.

Jesson allowed three hits and three walks in three shutout innings to take the win on the mound for Hartford/Humboldt, striking out six batters as well. Jesson batted 3-for-5 with a homer, driving in two runs, Jacob Ellens had two hits and an RBI, Nathan Adrian, Rayce Whiting and Braden Herr each had an RBI on one hit while Brayden Odegaard tallied two hits, a triple and a walk in the win.

For Salem, Isaac Anderson allowed seven runs on 10 hits and a walk in five innings, striking out two. Kyle Tuschen had two RBIs on three hits, one double, Tyler Earls had three hits, including a double, while Jacob Vonberge added two RBIs on one hit in the loss.


Flandreau Blue Teal 8, Colman A’s 5

MADISON — Tash Lunday struck out 11 batters as Flandreau advanced in the District 4B tournament Friday.

Lunday tossed 8.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and six walks, striking out 11 to take the win on the mound. Mason Riley drove in three runs on a homer and a walk for the Blue Teal, Kolby Peters added two hits, a triple, and two RBIs, Lunday netted two hits and an RBI, Tanner Christopherson had three hits while Tristen Van Wassenhove had an RBI on one hit in the win.

For Colman, Paul Clark allowed eight runs on 10 hits and two walks in six innings, striking out eight in the loss. Chase DeWitt tallied two hits, a double, and an RBI, Carter Roach had two hits, two walks and an RBI, while Clark added an RBI on one hit in the loss.


Wynot (Neb.) Expos 4, Menno MadFrogs 0

WYNOT — Landon Wieseler and Jackson Sudbeck threw a combined shutout as Wynot defeated Menno in South Central League district tournament action Friday.

Wieseler started the game for Wynot, allowing three hits and five walks in 6.1 innings, striking out six batters. Subeck closed the final 2.2 innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out four. Offensively, Carson Wieseler tallied two hits and two RBIs, Lee Heimes and Peyton Wieseler each tallied two hits while David Schenk drove in a run in the win.

For Menno, Jared Hegdahl took the loss, allowing four runs on nine hits in eight innings, striking out three. Connor Merriam had two hits in the loss for the MadFrogs.
