Brookings Post 74 5, Rapid City Post 22 4

YANKTON — Zach Struck’s walk-off RBI single lifted Brookings Post 74 past Rapid City Post 22 in Class A American Legion state tourney action on Tuesday. 

Struck finished with two hits, while Parker Winghart also collected two hits. Justin Cofell, Nathan Lease, Nolan Miles and Austin Clark each drove in runs. Lease earned the win after striking out four batters, while allowing four earned runs on 11 hits and walked two batters in his six-inning start.

For Rapid City Post 22, Phillip Bentz finished with three hits and an RBI. Wyatt Reeder, Alex Dietrich and Dominic McKnight had two hits apiece. Aiden Roberts knocked in two runs, while Reeder and Bentz each knocked in runs. Hayden Leighty started and allowed six hits, three earned runs, one walk and struck out five batters in his five-inning start. 

Brookings will play Sioux Falls East at 5 p.m. Wednesday. 

Rapid City Post 22 will play Harrisburg Maroon at 10 a.m. Wednesday. 


Sioux Falls Post 15 7, Harrisburg Maroon 2 

YANKTON — Andrew Glovich and Jack Smith hammered home runs as Sioux Falls Post 15 picked up a Class A American Legion state tournament win Tuesday.

Glovich finished 2 of 4 and drove in three runs, including a two-run blast in the sixth inning. Smith smacked a solo home run in the first inning. Sawyer Tolk went 3 of 3 and drove in a run. Myles Rees picked up the win after striking out eight batters, while allowing three hits, no runs and no walks in his 4.2-inning start.

For Harrisburg Maroon, Jason Hanson finished 2 of 3. Sam Sutton and Jacob Bergman had doubles. Darren Safranski took the loss after surrendering five hits, four earned runs, six walks and struck out five batters in his five-inning start. 

Sioux Falls East plays Brookings Post 74 at 5 p.m. Wednesday. 

Harrisburg Maroon plays Rapid City Post 22 at 10 a.m. Wednesday.


Harrisburg Gold 6, Aberdeen Smittys 2

YANKTON — Noah Boschee drove in four runs to pace Harrisburg Gold to a Class A American Legion state tournament win Tuesday.

Boschee finished 2 of 3 and hammered a three-run homer in the first inning. Jack Riley and Tate Larson added two hits apiece, while Larson drove in a run. Eli Kokenge started and lasted five innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and struck out seven batters. Boschee allowed one hit and struck out two batters through two scoreless relief innings. 

For Aberdeen, Zane Backous finished 4 of 4, while Jaiden Smith drove in both runs. Drew Salfrank added two hits. Backous started and lasted 4.2 innings, surrendering seven hits, zero earned runs and struck out four batters. 

Harrisburg plays Yankton Post 12 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Aberdeen plays Renner Post 307 at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. 


Yankton Post 12 7, Renner Post 307 1 

YANKTON — Yankton Post 12’s pitching staff kept Renner Post 307’s bats in check during Class A American Legion state tourney action on Tuesday. 

Drew Ryken started and lasted the first six innings, allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out two batters. Mark Kathol threw one relief inning, allowing zero runs and zero hits. 

Rugby Ryken and Matthew Sheldon had two hits apiece. Cody Oswald drove in two runs, while Drew Ryken, Lucas Kampshoff and Josh Sheldon each had hits 

For Renner, Charlie Hueners and Jake Wheeler each had hits. Braylon Bear took the loss after allowing 10 hits, five earned runs, one walk and struck out three batters in his six-inning start. 

Yankton plays Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Renner plays Aberdeen at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
