July 25 Legion Baseball Roundup - Tabor tops Wagner, advances to Region 4B championship

Tabor 7, Wagner 5

CORSICA — Tabor knocked off Wagner in Region 4B Legion baseball action on Thursday. 

With the win, Tabor advances to the Region 4B championship Friday at 1 p.m. against Parkston. 


Parkston 13, Wagner 5

CORSICA —  Kaden Holzbauer drove in four runs as Parkston advanced to the Region 4B Legion championship Thursday.

Holzbauer batted 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, Drew Braley had two walks and two RBIs, Luke Bormann, Kolter Kramer, and Maddux Brissette each tallied a hit and one RBI, while Carter Sommer, Brayden Jervik, and James Deckert each tallied hits in the win.

Kramer earned the victory on the mound for Parkston, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk in 1.2 innings, striking out one batter.

For Wagner, Matt Link took the loss surrendering nine runs on five hits and five walks in four innings, fanning five batters.

Joey Cournoyer drove in two runs on one hit and one walk, Carter Cournoyer had two hits, a walk, and an RBI, Landon Mudder drove in a run on a walk, while Hunter Loeffler, Ted Slaba, and Link each tallied hits in the loss.

With the win, Parkston advances to the Region 4B championship Friday at 1 p.m. against Tabor. 


Big Stone City 7, Castlewood 5 

CASTLEWOOD — Two runs in the sixth-inning helped Big Stone City advance to the Region 1B championship Thursday.

Braxton Brandriet batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs, Isaac Brown collected two hits and an RBI, Connor Danielson drove in a run on a double and a walk, while Dru Boots drove in a run on one hit in the win as well.

Danielson and Brown combined for the win on the mound, allowing five runs on seven hits and six walks, striking out eight batters.

For Castlewood, Watson Grantham saw the most time on the mound at four innings, surrendering five runs on four hits and two walks, striking out seven.

Kaden Nedved drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, Ted Smith drove in a run on a hit and a walk, Jyler Theraldsen collected two hits, while Riggs Prouty, Brody Bass, and J Eidson each tallied hits in the loss.


Milbank 11, Castlewood 3

CASTLEWOOD — Milbank scored eight runs in the sixth innings to pick up a Region 1B Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Milbank’s Josh Pederson finished 3-for-4 and drove in three runs. Joe Schulte added two hits and drove in three runs. Mason Miester had two hits and an RBI. Dillen Scheeley and Reese Rabe both had a hit and an RBI. Schulte struck out 10 batters, allowed six hits, three earned runs and walked two batters on 101 pitches.

For Castlewood, Jyler Tharaldsen had two hits and an RBI. Watson Grantham, Riggs Prouty, Kaden Nedved and Jarin Eidson each had hits. Kolby Davis took the loss, allowing three hits, three earned runs, six walks and struck out four batters in 4.1 innings. 

 

Volga 14, Baltic/Colton 13 (8 innings)

MADISON — Volga walked off Baltic/Colton in Region 2B Legion baseball action on Thursday.

Christopher Moberg finished with two hits, while Caleb Murphy and Ethan Axtell drove in three runs apiece. Micah Otto and Levi Loban drove in two runs apiece. Andrew Gunderson earned the win, striking out two batters and allowing one earned run through 1.2 innings. 

For Baltic/Colton, Tate Feucht had four hits and drove in three runs. Everett Althoff and Beau Keith had three hits apiece. Keith drove in three runs. Carter Sorenson had two hits and drove in two runs. Cody Lofswold took the loss, allowing three hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out two batters in 1.1 innings. 


Tea 11, Dakota Valley 4

LENNOX — Four batters collected two RBIs apiece as Tea defeated Dakota Valley in Region 3B tournament action Thursday.

Mason Schram batted 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Clayton Schwebach batted 3-for-3 with a walk, double, and two RBIs, Carter Turek hit a two-RBI double, Gavin Johnson drove in two runs, while Ben Vasecka tallied an RBI on one hit in the win for Tea.

Four pitchers combined for the victory on the mound, allowing four runs on four hits and six walks, striking out six batters along the way.

For DV, Grant Van Den Hul took the loss allowing 10 runs on nine hits and three walks in three innings of work.

Drew Lukken drove in a run on two hits, while Jack Wiese and Beau Pollema each tallied hits in the loss.

With the loss, Dakota Valley is eliminated from the Region 3B Legion tournament.


Elk Point/Jefferson 3, Lennox 2

LENNOX — Ethan Bovill’s walk-off single lifted Elk Point/Jefferson to a region baseball win over Lennox on Thursday.

Bovill finished 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Jace Shatswell added two hits, while Kayden Moore and Keaton Gale each had two hits. Brody Van Roekel earned the win, striking out four batters, allowing five hits, two earned runs and one walk. 

For Lennox, Jackson Anacker, Conner Eich, Cole Spieler, Talen Eich and Mason Rieschl each had hits. Anniker took the loss, allowing four hits, one earned run, two walks and struck out two batters in 1.1 innings. 

 

Alexandria 10, Humboldt/Hartford 0 (5 innings)

ALEXANDRIA — Jayce Slaba drove in three runs as Alexandria picked up a Region 5B Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Slaba finished 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Ben Wilber finished 1-for-3 and drove in two runs. Esten Schlimgen, Carter Popp and Weston Kayser each had hits. AJ Wilber allowed two hits, zero runs, one walk and struck out three batters in five innings.

For Humboldt/Hartford, Jesse Jost and Keaton Vessells had hits. Jericho Klein took the loss, allowing four hits, three earned runs, two walks and struck out two batters in 3.1 innings. 


Alexandria 4, Salem/Montrose/Canova 0

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria scored four runs in the fifth inning and blanked Salem/Montrose/Canova in Region 5B Legion baseball action on Thursday.

Alexandria’s Ben Wilber had two hits and drove in a run. Jackson Jarding drove in two runs, while Jayce Slaba knocked in a run. Ben Wilber struck out three batters, allowed five hits, zero runs and walked four batters in seven innings. 

For SMC, Jackson Remmers had two hits. Carter Randall, Weston Remmers and Kade Shumaker each had two hits. Nolan Mentele took the loss, allowing three hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out four batters in 4.2 innings. 


Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern 7, Clark/Willow Lake 5

CLARK — Quinton Fischbach recorded three hits as Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern earned a Region 6B Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Fischbach drove in a run and had a double. Devon Fischbach and Sam Vetter had two hits apiece. Vetter and Levi Little drove in two runs apiece. Dawson Ward earned the win, allowing two hits, zero runs, two walks and struck out two batters in four innings.

For CWL, Jakob Steen finished with two hits and an RBI. Ky Vandersnick drove in three runs. Cooper Pommer and Steen both had doubles. Tyson Huber took the loss, allowing nine hits, seven earned runs, four walks and had five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. 


Winner/Colome 5, Platte/Geddes 1

PLATTE — Aiden Barfuss recorded three hits as Winner/Colome picked up a Region 7B Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Barfuss finished 3-for-4 and drove in a run. Karson Keiser had two hits and an RBI. Zac Olson, Landon Calhoon and Konnor Osborn each had hits. Calhoon earned the win, allowing four hits, one earned run, four walks and struck out one batter in seven innings.

For Platte/Geddes, Joey Foxley, Caden Oberbroekling, Ashton Krumvieda and Maddux VanZee each had hits. Kenyon Kuiper took the loss, allowing eight hits, three earned runs, two walks and striking out seven batters in seven innings.
