Castlewood Monarchs 6, Clark Traders 3

LAKE NORDEN — The Castlewood Monarchs earned a berth into the Class B state amateur baseball tournament on Wednesday. 

Kyler Tvedt earned the win on the mound for Castlewood, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out three in six innings.

Tvedt, Parker Schmidt, Josh Cleveland, Blayne Schliesman, Kellen Benck, and Jacob Tvedt each had one hit for Castlewood. Schmidt, Tvedt, and Lucas Ching each had one RBI.

Tyler Brinka took the loss for Clark, giving up six runs on six hits, while striking out six in 6 ⅓ innings.

Wesley Jones led Clark with four hits in five at bats, while Brinka and Bradyn Rusher each had one RBI.


Plankinton Bankers 7, Kimball/White Lake Nationals 1

CHAMBERLAIN — The Plankinton Bankers captured the District 3B amateur baseball title on Wednesday. 

Josh Engquist allowed one run on four hits and struck out four in his nine inning start for Plankinton.

Plankinton racked up 11 hits, with Travis Gant, Alex Loes, and Trevor Salmonson tallying two hits apiece. Engquist, Salmonson, and Preston Kristensen each had two RBI, while Kristensen added one home run in the fourth inning.

Brian Zeman started the game for Kimball/White Lake, allowing 11 hits and seven runs, while striking out three and walking one in six innings.

Zeman, Jesse Kroupa, Trent Wookey, and Caden Lenz each had one hit, while Lenz also had one RBI.


Sioux Falls Hops 8, Tea Steam 0

SIOUX FALLS — The Sioux Falls Hops pulled away from the Tea Steam for an amateur baseball win on Wednesday.

Jacob Glovich picked up the win for the Sioux Falls Hops, allowing zero runs on three hits, while striking out nine and walking one in eight innings.

The Sioux Falls Hops recorded 12 hits, with Alejandro Cortina, Brandon Ruud, Alex Sommers, and Cobe Porter had two hits apiece. Bryce Ahrendt and Ian Strum each had two RBI.

Cameron Jensen took the loss for the Tea Steam, giving up six runs on ten hits in 5 ⅓ innings, while striking out five.

Brady Bretzman, Ryan Bak, and Troy Ljunggren had one hit apiece for the Tea Steam.
