Harrisburg Gold 3, Sioux Falls East 2

YANKTON — Harrisburg Gold edged Sioux Falls East in the Class A American Legion state tournament on Thursday. 

Harrisburg scored all three runs in the sixth inning and is the last undefeated team left in the tournament. 

Harrisburg’s Nate Boschee drove in two runs, while Carter Hoffman knocked in the other run. Teigan Munce, Maddux Scherer, Tate Larson and Coen Cook each had hits. Braxton Kusler started and lasted 5.1 innings, striking out 10 batters, allowing one earned run on three hits and walking three batters. For Sioux Falls East, Tristan Fitzsimmons finished with two of the team’s five hits. Myles Rees and Andrew Glovich drove in runs. Glovich took the loss after allowing five hits, two earned runs and struck out eight batters in his five-inning start. 


Yankton Post 12 6, Rapid City Post 22 2

YANKTON — Yankton Post 12 defeated Rapid City Post 22 in an elimination game in the Class A American Legion state tournament on Thursday. 

Yankton’s Matthew Sheldon picked up the win after four strikeouts, one earned run allowed on two hits and walked six batters in his five-inning start. Rugby Ryken and Lucas Kampshoff had two hits and an RBI apiece. Drew Ryken drove in two runs, while Sheldon and Jace McCorkell each knocked in runs. 

For Post 22, Wilson Kieffer finished with two of the team’s four hits. Harrison Good and Phillip Bentz each drove in runs. Declan Mickley started the first 3.2 innings, allowing four earned runs on three hits and struck out three batters. 


Brookings Post 74 13, Renner Post 307 2 (6 innings)

YANKTON — Brookings Post 74 eliminated Renner Post 307 from the Class A American Legion state tournament on Thursday. 

Parker Winghart led Brookings with four RBI, while Nathan Lease drove in two runs. Breck Hirrschoff, Nolan Miles and Lease had two hits apiece. Owen Schneider, Zach Struck and Tate Helmboldt each drove in runs. Schneider started the first five innings, finishing with four strikeouts, one earned run allowed on five hits and walked three batters. 

For Renner, Kyle Konechne, Trey Heckenliable and Jake Wheeler each had hits. Brycen Top started the first 4.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits and struck out four batters.
