Burke Bombers 13, Wessington Springs Owls 7

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Burke erupted for 14 hits as it upset Wessington Springs to advance to the District 3B championship Sunday.

Sawyer Tietgen and Ben Witt each had three hits and three RBIs, including a double and a triple by Tietgen. Hunter Van Niewenhuyse batted 1-for-6 with three RBIs, Tommy Determan had three hits, a walk, and two RBIs, while Coy Determan had two hits, a double, and a walk in the win.

Van Niewenhuyse took the victory in a complete game outing, allowing seven runs on nine hits and a walk, striking out nine.

For Wessington Springs, Mason Schelske and Terrek Butterfield split the pitching duties, allowing 13 runs on 14 hits and four walks, striking out nine batters.

Trevor Kenobbie had two hits and an RBI, Blake Larson and Camden Jost each had one hit and one RBI, while five other batters had hits in the loss.

Burke will face Kimball/White Lake for the District 3B championship Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Chamberlain.


Plankinton F&M Bankers 2, Colome Chaos 1

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Despite getting outhit 8-3, Plankinton held on to defeat Colome in the District 3B tournament Sunday.

Devin Mehlhaff took the victory on the mound in a 96-pitch complete game, allowing one run on eight hits, striking out seven batters.

Thomas Stange hit an RBI double, Drew Gerlach had a double, while Blaine Bohr tallied a hit in the win.

For Colome, Kevin Carter took the loss in 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk striking out three batters.

Joey Cole had two hits, including a solo home run, while Cameron Biggins, Jake Luse, and Layton Thieman each tallied two hits in the loss.

With the loss, Colome was eliminated from the District 3B tournament.


Platte Killer Tomatoes 10, Alexandria Angels 8

PARKSTON — Grant Doom tossed 11 strikeouts as Platte defeated Alexandria to advance to the District 5B championship Sunday.

Doom allowed eight runs on 10 hits and five walks in a 192-pitch outing, striking out 11 batters to earn the victory.

Michael Buitenbos drive in three runs on two hits, Dawson Hoffman had two RBIs on two hits, Sheldon Gant batted 2-for-4 with two walks, a homer, and two RBIs, Preston Nedved had three hits, a walk, a double, and an RBI, while Doom drove in a run on a hit-by-pitch as well.

For Alexandria, Riley McSherry took the loss in eight innings on the mound, surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits and seven walks, striking out eight batters.

Michael Schoettmer batted 4-for-5, Landon Ruesink drove in four runs on a hit and a walk, while Cole Wenande, Tyson Gau, and Pierce Smith each drove in a run on one hit in the loss.

Platte will now face Winner/Colome in the District 5B championship Friday at 8 p.m. in Parkston.


Lake Norden Lakers 2, Castlewood Ravens 1

MILBANK — Jordon Johnson tossed 13 strikeouts as Lake Norden defeated Castlewood in the District 1B tournament Sunday.

Johnson earned the victory on a complete game outing, allowing one run on three hits and four walks, including 13 strikeouts.

Jackson Noem and Jesse VanOverbeke each had two hits, Mitchell Noem drove in a run on one hit, while Kevin Krumm tallied one hit and one walk in the victory.

For Castlewood, Alex Gauer took the loss, surrendering two runs on five hits and four walks in 6.1 innings, striking out eight batters.

Gus Stieger hit an RBI triple, while Kellan Benck and Kegan Tvedt each had hits in the loss.

Lake Norden will now face Milbank in the District 1B championship Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Milbank.


Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 4, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 3

CANOVA — Logan Larson drove in two runs as Hartford/Humboldt defeated Madison to stay alive in the District 4B tournament Sunday.

Larson batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Braden Herr drove in a run on a walk, Austin King had a triple, while CJ DenBoer and Camden McDonald each had hits in the win.

Derek Renken took the victory in six innings of work on the mound, striking out five batters in six innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks.

For Madison, Tyler Tappe took the loss allowing four runs on six hits and five walks in seven innings, striking out nine.

Greg Biagi tallied four hits, two doubles, and an RBI, while Matt Burpee had an RBI-single in the loss as well.

Madison was eliminated from the District 4B tournament with this loss.


Milbank Firechiefs 4, Clark Traders 3

MILBANK — Taylor Boerger’s complete game on the mound lifted Milbank to the District 1B championship Sunday.

Boerger allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk in nine innings, striking out eight batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Kaden Krause and Dom Boerger each had two hits, including a double by Boerger, Merik Junker had two hits and an RBI, Tyler Krause drove in two runs on a hit, Mitch Quade tallied one hit, one walk, and one RBI, while Taylor Boerger had a hit in the win as well.

For Clark, Hudson Fuller took the loss in eight innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out four.

Wesley Jones had two hits and an RBI, Grayson Florey drove in a run on one hit, while Brent Griffith tallied two hits in the loss for Clark.

Milbank now faces Lake Norden in the District 1B championship Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Milbank.


Garretson Blue Jays 3, Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils 1

LARCHWOOD, Iowa — Garretson limited Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing to just one run as it advanced to the District 7B championship Sunday.

Tayson Swatek had three hits, Dustin Steckler and Scott Splett each drove in a run on one hit, including two walks by Splett. Aaron Labrie and Jesse Brockhouse each had hits, while Brady Bonte drove in a run in the loss.

For LCW, Ricky Tompkins saw the most time on the mound allowing one run on three hits and four walks in 4.2 innings.

Brett Duncan had two hits, while Nick Zabel, Conner Eich, Wyatt Adam, Tate Reiner, and Mikey Kocer each had hits in the loss.

Garretson will now face Larchwood in the District 7B championship Saturday at 5 p.m. in Larchwood, Iowa.


Chamberlain Mallards 4, Winner Demons 0 (10 innings)

WESSI NGTON SPRINGS — Chamberlain struck for four tenth-inning runs to eliminate Winner from the District 3B tournament Sunday.

Mike Schwartz earned the victory on the mound, allowing two hits and two walks in 4.1 shutout innings including six strikeouts, while Dakota Munger tossed 5.2 innings in his start, giving up just five hits and five walks while striking out 12 batters.

Evan Stiener batted 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, Braydon Kreofsky had one hit and two walks, Schwartz had a hit and a walk, while Rayden Haak tallied a hit in the win as well.

For Winner, Ethan Bartels took the loss allowing four runs on six hits and seven walks in 10 innings on the mound, throwing nine strikeouts along the way.

Evan Farner had two hits, while Kayleb Brozik, Pierce Nelson, Shane Phillips, Aaron Gilchrist, and Bartels each had hits in the loss.

With the loss, Winner was eliminated from the District 3B tournament.


Groton Locke Electric 7, Northville 0

REDFIELD — Alex Morris tossed a complete game shutout as Groton advanced to the District 2B championship Sunday.

Morris struck out 10 batters in nine innings, allowing three hits and a walk to earn the victory.

Ben Althoff had a hit and two RBIs, Johnny Celedonio had two hits and an RBI, Spencer Knecht tallied an RBI, while Dylan Frey and Brian Hansen each had hits in the win.

For Northville, Ashton Remily took the loss allowing one run on two hits and four walks in 3.1 innings, fanning three batters.

Carson Simes, Greg Heyne, and Carter Lane each tallied a hit in the loss.

Groton will now face Redfield Dairy Queen in the District 2B championship Thursday at 7 p.m. in Redfield.


Winner/Colome Pheasants 9, Dimock/Emery Raptors 4

PARKSTON — Winner/Colome collected 16 hits as it advanced to the District 5B championship Sunday.

Dillon Lambley had three hits and two RBIs, Oscar Pravacek had three hits and an RBI, Austin Calhoon drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Austin Richey collected an RBI-single, Reed Harter and Aiden Barfuss each tallied two hits, while Derek Graesser drove in a run in win.

Graesser earned the victory on the mound for the Pheasants, allowing four runs on six hits in nine innings, striking out 10 batters.

For D/E, Josh Engquist took the loss allowing nine runs on 16 hits and two walks in eight innings.

Sam Pischke and Drew Kitchens each had two hits, Phil Johnson drove in a run on one hit, while Peyton Nash collected a hit in the loss for the Raptors.

Winner/Colome will now face Platte in the District 5B championship Friday at 8 p.m. in Parkston.


Redfield Dairy Queen 9, Faulkton Hitmen 4

REDFIELD — Peyton Osborn drove in four runs as Redfield defeated Faulkton in the opening round of the District 2B tournament Sunday.

Osborn batted 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, and four RBIs, Cooper Hainy drove in two runs on three hits and a walk, Bennett Osborn collected two hits, while Nolan Gall and Camden Osborn each drove in a run on a combined three walks.

Peyton Osborn earned the victory on the mound allowing one run on one hit and two walks in three innings of work.

For Faulkton, Gunner Brueggeman took the loss allowing eight runs on seven hits and five walks, striking out five batters in 5.1 innings.

Parker Geditz batted 3-for-5 with an RBI, Blaze Herdman and Brueggeman each drove in a run on one hit, while Ryan Soler collected two hits in the loss.

Redfield will face Groton in the District 2B championship Thursday at 7 p.m. in Redfield.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 11, Four Corners 4

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Dylanger Pierson and Caden Lenz combined for seven RBIs as Kimball/White Lake advanced to the District 3B championship Sunday.

Pierson batted 1-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs, Lenz batted 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, and four RBIs, Jonny Lyons had one hit, one walk, and one RBI, while Jesse Kroupa drove in two runs on two hits in the win as well.

Ethan Price took the victory on the mound issuing one run on three hits and three walks, striking out six in five innings.

For 4C, Garrett Stout took the loss allowing 10 runs on five hits and six walks in 3.1 innings, tossing six strikeouts.

Stout, Andrew McCloud, and River Iverson each had two hits, including a solo homer and a double by Stout and a double and two RBIs by McCloud.

With the win, KWL will face Burke in the District 3B championship Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Chamberlain.


Menno Mad Frogs 12, Irene Cardinals 1 (7 innings)

LESTERVILLE — Spencer Schultz hit a homer and a triple during a District 6B tournament victory over Irene Sunday.

Schultz batted 2-for-4 with a walk, triple, homer, and two RBIs, Conner Merriam and Nick Ratzloff each drove in two runs on two hits, including a double by Merriam, Macon Oplinger collected three hits and an RBI, while Dylan Lehr batted 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI as well.

Oplinger took the victory on the mound in a complete game, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk, striking out five.

For Irene, Tate Gale took the loss allowing eight runs on six hits and three walks, striking out six.

Marcus VanDriel highlighted the Irene offense with a solo home run in the loss.

Irene was eliminated from the District 6B tournament with the loss.


Volga Cormorants 15, Ramona Express 3 (7 innings)

MILBANK — Volga struck for 11 hits, including seven doubles in a mercy rule victory over Ramona in the District 1B amateur tournament Sunday.

Dylan Vosburg led the way batting 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs, Cole Gross had two RBIs on a double, Noah Puetz had two hits, a double, and an RBI, Carson Christopher son drove in a run on one hit and one walk, while Zane Hiller collected two hits, including a double in the win. Kyler Bezdichek also drew four walks and scored three times in the win.

Bayley Colemer earned the victory on the mound allowing one hit and one walk in 2.1 innings, fanning three batters.

For Ramona, Terrance Carroll took the loss allowing six runs on five hits and three walks in three innings.

Justin Casanova drove in a run on a hit and a walk, Connor Libis and Casey Renaas each had RBIs, while Jeremiah Hoekman, Carroll, and Logan Derungs each had hits in the loss.

Ramona was eliminated from the District 1B tournament with the loss.


Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 24, Flandreau Blue Teal 1 (5 innings)

CANOVA — Hartford/Humboldt pounded 18 hits in a District 4B tournament victory over Flandreau Sunday.

Briggs Havlik and Carter Halverson combined for four hits and four RBIs in the win, including two doubles by Halverson. Cam Quigley batted 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and two RBIs. Ryan Healy and Devon Garry each had two hits and an RBI, while Chad Morrison and Broc Haldeman each drove in a run on one hit in the win.

Blake Svoboda took the victory in three shutout innings, allowing just one walk while striking out five.

For Flandreau, Mason Riley took the loss allowing eight runs on nine hits in one inning.

Kolby Peters had the only hit and RBI in the loss for Flandreau.

With the loss, the Flandreau Blue Teal were eliminated from the District 4B tournament.
