Gregory Post 6 4, Platte/Geddes Post 115 2

GREGORY — Gregory Post 6 doubled up Platte/Geddes Post 115 for an opening round win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on Friday. Gregory Post 6 will play Redfield Post 92 in the winner’s bracket on Saturday.

Bryce Frank earned the win for Gregory, allowing two hits and zero runs in four innings.

Frank, Rylan Peck, and Brogan Glover had two hits apiece to lead Gregory at the plate. Peck, Glover, Gannon Thomas, and Carsen Klundt each had one RBI, while Peck also had a home run in the fourth inning.

Dawson Hoffman led Platte/Geddes on the hill, allowing four hits and two runs in one inning.

Aiden Bultje led Platte/Geddes with two hits in four at bats and one RBI. Hoffman, Dakota Munger, and Jackson Neuman each had one hit, while Neuman also had one RBI.

Platte/Geddes Post 115 will play Milbank Post 9 in the loser’s bracket on Saturday.

Vermillion Post 1 9, Dell Rapids Post 65 7

GREGORY — Vermillion Post 1 scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull away from Dell Rapids Post 65 for an opening round win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on Friday. Vermillion Post 1 will play Winner/Colome Post 169 in the winner’s bracket on Saturday.

Ben Burbach picked up the win for Vermillion, allowing two hits and zero runs, while walking one in two innings. Jake Jensen started the game for Vermillion, allowing eight hits and seven runs in four innings, while striking out two and walking one.

Connor Saunders led Vermillion with two hits in four at bats and two RBI. Jensen, Willis Robertson, Jack Kratz, Charlie Ward, T.J. Tracy, and Reece Proefrock each had one RBI.

Brayden Pankonen took the loss for Dell Rapids, allowing six hits and four runs in 3 â…“ innings, while striking out two. Jack Henry started the game for Dell Rapids, giving up four runs on zero hits in 1 â…” innings, while striking out two.

Dell Rapids tallied 11 hits, with Pankonen, C.J. Smith, and Joe Rechtenbaugh recording two hits apiece. Rechtenbaugh, Dylan Mathis, Will Jaton, Treyse Eastman, and Aiden Boechler each had one RBI.

Dell Rapids Post 65 will play Hartford/Humboldt 118/62 in the loser’s bracket on Saturday.

Winner/Colome Post 169 8, Hartford/Humboldt 118/62 7

GREGORY — Winner/Colome Post 169 edged Hartford/Humboldt 118/62 for an opening round win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on Friday. Winner/Colome Post 169 plays Vermillion Post 1 in the winner’s bracket on Saturday.

Aiden Barfuss led Winner/Colome to the win, surrendering one hit and one run in three innings, while striking out seven and walking one. Ethan Bartels started the game for Winner/Colome, allowing 11 hits and six runs in four innings, while striking out three and walking one.

Winner/Colome tallied 11 hits on the day, with Aiden Barfuss going 4-of-4 at the plate along with one home run in the fifth inning and four RBI to lead the Royals. Joey Cole added two hits and one RBI.

Gavin Koch led Hartford/Humboldt on the hill, allowing four hits and three runs in 2 â…” innings, while striking out one and walking one. Seth Gabbert started the game for Hartford/Humboldt, allowing seven hits and five runs, while recording five strikeouts and walking one in 4 â…“ innings.

Hartford/Humboldt racked up 12 hits, with Loren Jacobsen and Braden Herr tallying three hits apiece, while Bennett Sebert added two hits. Herr led with four RBI, while Jacobsen added one RBI.

Hartford/Humboldt 118/62 will play Dell Rapids Post 65 in the loser’s bracket on Saturday. 

Redfield Post 92 16, Milbank Post 9 1 (5 innings)

GREGORY — Redfield Post 92 used a nine run third inning to cruise past Milbank Post 9 for an opening round win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on Friday. Redfield Post 92 will play Gregory Post 6 in the winner’s bracket on Saturday.

Keaton Rohlfs pitched Redfield to the win, allowing four hits and one run in 3 â…“ innings, while striking out two.

Redfield totaled 12 hits, with Owen Osborn, Nolan Gall, Eli Morrissette, and Erik Salmen each recording two hits. Salmen led Redfield with five RBI, while Osborn tallied three RBI. Rohlfs and Camden Osborn added two RBI apiece.

Kaden Krause led Milbank on the mound, giving up two runs on two hits in one inning, while striking out three.

Krause, Kellen Hoeke, Isaac Schulte, and Mike Karges each had one hit for Milbank, while Karges also had one RBI. 

Milbank Post 9 will play Platte/Geddes Post 115 in the loser’s bracket on Saturday.
