July 30 Class B Legion Baseball Roundup - Redfield outlasts Gregory in back-and-forth affair

Redfield Post 92 13, Gregory Post 6 12

GREGORY — Redfield Post 92 edged Gregory Post 6 for a win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on  Saturday. Redfield will play Winner/Colome on Sunday.

Camden Osborn led Redfield on the mound, giving up one run on two hits in two innings, while striking out two. Owen Osborn started the game for Redfield, pitching three innings and surrendering eight runs on six hits along with three strikeouts.

Camden Osborn led Redfield with three hits, while Nolan Gall and Erik Salmen added two hits apiece. Salmen led with four RBI, while Camden Osborn and Owen Osborn added three and two RBI, respectively.

Rylan Peck took the loss for Gregory, allowing one run on zero hits in one inning, while striking out two. Gannon Thomas started the game for Gregory, giving up six runs on four hits, while striking out one and walking one in 1 ⅔ innings.

Bryce Frank led Gregory with three hits, while Peck and Thomas added two hits each. Thomas drove in four runs, while Peck and Ben Witt each drove in two runs.

Gregory will play Dell Rapids on Sunday.

Winner/Colome Post 169 8, Vermillion Post 1 3

GREGORY — Winner/Colome Post 169 pulled away from Vermillion Post 1 for a win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on Saturday. Winner/Colome plays Redfield on Sunday. 

Zachary Olson earned the win for Winner/Colome, allowing four hits and zero runs in 6 ⅓ innings, while striking out three. Joey Cole started the game for Winner/Colome, allowing one hit and three runs in ⅔ of an inning.

Joey Cole, Pierce Nelson, Aiden Barfuss, Charley Pravecek, Ashton Klein, Ethan Bartels, and Jack Peters each had one hit for Winner/Colome. Barfuss led with three RBI and one home run in the seventh inning. Cole, Klein, and Peters each added one RBI.

Tim Dixon took the loss for Vermillion, giving up five runs on four hits and striking out three in his four inning start.

Willis Robertson led Vermillion with two hits in three at bats, while Jake Jensen, Reece Proefrock, and T.J. Tracy added one hit apiece. Tracy also had one RBI.

Vermillion will play Platte/Geddes on Sunday.


Platte/Geddes Post 115 10, Milbank Post 9 5

GREGORY — Platte/Geddes Post 115 doubled up Milbank Post 9 and earned a win at the Class B Legion baseball tournament on Saturday. Platte/Geddes will play Vermillion on Sunday.

Caden Oberbroekling took the win for Platte/Geddes, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out and walking one in 2 ⅔ innings.

Platte/Geddes tallied 16 hits, with Dakota Munger and Caden Foxley recording four hits each and Oakley Kott and Joey Foxley adding three hits apiece. Munger led with five RBI and Caden Foxley added two RBI.

Kellen Hoeke took the loss for Milbank, giving up nine runs on 13 hits in five innings, while striking out three. Hoeke also led Milbank with two hits in four at bats. Bryce Lamp led with two RBI, while Merik Junker, Isaac Schulte, and Joe Schulte each added one RBI.

 

Dell Rapids Post 65 20, Hartford/Humboldt 62/118 4 (5 innings) 

GREGORY — Dell Rapids erupted for 13 runs in the third inning to help secure a Class B Legion baseball win Saturday. Dell Rapids will play Gregory on Sunday. 

Aiden Boechler led Dell Rapids with three hits, two doubles and four RBI. Brayden Pankonen, Will Jaton and C.J. Smith all had two hits and three RBI apiece. Dylan Mathis added two hits and drove in two runs. Treyse Eastman logged two hits, while Braden Fersdahl added a double. Jack Henry drove in two runs, while Mason Stubbe logged an RBI. Tad Tjaden allowed four runs on five hits and struck out four batters through five innings.
