Brookings Cubs 12, Castlewood Monarchs 7

CASTLEWOOD — Brookings scored five runs in the final two innings to break away from a 7-7 tie and pick up an amateur baseball win on Friday. 

Brookings’ Sam McMacken and Jeff Fish both smacked home runs in the win. Evan Miller notched a team-high three hits and drove in two runs. Chase McDaniel, Jared Tschetter, JaColby Anderson and Mason Bebensee each had a hit. Bebensee struck out five batters, allowed four hits, three earned runs and walked one in his three relief innings to earn the win. 

Castlewood’s Lucas Ching recorded two hits, three RBI and belted a home run. Blayne Schliesman added two hits, two RBI and smacked a homer. Parker Schmidt recorded two hits. Adam Ching started for Castlewood, surrendering five runs on five hits over four innings. 


Parkston Mudcats 6, Larchwood Diamonds 3

LARCHWOOD, Iowa — Parkston plated four runs in the sixth inning to come away with a non-league amateur baseball win on Friday. 

Landon Sudbeck picked up the win after striking out 11 batters, allowing six hits, three runs and walking two batters in the complete-game performance. 

Matt Malloy paced the Mudcats with two hits and two RBI. Jeff Harris, Sudbeck, Ryan McGinnis, Justin Devine and Jake Weber each had a hit. 

Larchwood’s Keaton Grecengard had two hits. Ryan Brasser lasted five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out eight batters and walking one. 


Lesterville Broncos 9, Freeman Blacksox 8 

LESTERVILLE — Trent Herrboldt’s walk-off single lifted Lesterville to a South Central League amateur baseball victory on Friday. 

Michael Drotzmann finished with three hits and three RBI in the win. Ethan Wishon and Andy Dollerschell had two hits apiece. Tyler Edler, Michael VanDriel and Brandon Nickolite each had a hit. Edler’s lone hit was a two-run homer. 

Alex Wagner earned the win after striking out 16 batters, surrendering 12 hits, eight earned runs and issuing two walks in his 8.2-inning start. 

Freeman’s Jake Weier had a game-high five hits and drove in two runs. Owen Feser added two hits and drove in three runs. Bailey Sage smacked a two-run homer. Nate Brohman struck out four batters, allowed eight hits, five runs (one earned) and had zero walks in his five-inning start. 


Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar 20, Clark Traders 3 (7 innings)

CLARK — Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar erupted for 23 hits in an amateur baseball win over Clark on Friday. 

Michael Babcock led the offensive onslaught with four hits and two RBI. Tyler Oliver, Ryan Ellingson and Tim Hanigan had three hits apiece. Ellingson drove in three runs, as did Kip Coates. Chad Ellingson, Spencer Sudbeck, Dalton Cox, Jesse Babcock and Coates each had two hits. 

Joey Wollman earned the win for Aberdeen. He surrendered three runs on five hits over 3.2 innings, while striking out five batters. 

Clark’s Grayson Florey recorded two hits, while Brent Griffith, Rhett Florey, Andrew Magedanz, Gunnar Kvistad each had a hit. Tyler Brinka was tagged with the loss after allowing 13 hits, 11 runs (10 earned), striking out three and walking two in his three-inning start.
