MITCHELL — A six run first inning propelled Mitchell Post 18 to a Legion baseball win over the Aberdeen Smittys on Friday.

Landon Waddell took the win for Mitchell Post 18, allowing two runs on three hits in four innings, while striking out five.

Dylan Soulek led Mitchell Post 18 with two hits in three at bats. Jake Helleloid and Jace Larson each drove in two runs apiece.

Casey Vining took the loss for the Aberdeen Smittys, giving up seven runs on seven hits in three innings, while striking out two and walking one.

Drew Salfrank led the Aberdeen Smittys with three hits in three at bats, while Josh Steinwandt had two hits in three at bats.


Mitchell Post 18 8, Aberdeen Smittys 0

MITCHELL — Jake Helleloid struck out 12 batters in a three-hit shutout to lift Mitchell Post 18 to a Legion baseball win over the Aberdeen Smittys on Friday.

Helleloid only walked three batters on 99 pitches in the complete-game performance. He also added a solo home run at the plate. 

Offensively, Seth Muth, Dylan Soulek, Peyton Schroder, Jace Larson, Brock Sparks and Mason Geraets each had a hit. Larson drove in two runs. 

Aberdeen's Josh Steinwandt, Brian Holmstrom and Nick Clemens each had a hit. Brock Martin struck out four batters, allowed four hits, seven runs (three earned) and walked five batters in his five-inning start. 


Yankton Post 12 12, 911 Chargers 0

YANKTON — A seven run second inning helped Yankton Post 12 race past the 911 Chargers for a Legion Baseball win on Friday.

Isaiah Schelhaas earned the win for Post 12, pitching four innings and allowing one hit and zero runs, while striking out one and walking one.

Jace McCorkell led Post 12 with two hits in two at bats. Joe Gokie led with three RBI’s, while McCorkell, Cody Oswald, and Connor Teichroew each had two RBI’s apiece.

Elijah Myers took the loss for the 911 Chargers, allowing seven runs on four hits and walking one in 1 ⅓ innings. Myers also had one hit in two at bats.


Yankton Post 12 11, Spearfish Post 164 1

YANKTON — Yankton Post 12 cruised past Spearfish Post 164 for a Legion baseball win on Friday.

Landon Loecker picked up the win for Post 12, allowing one hit and one run in five innings, while striking out ten.

Drew Ryken, Rugby Ryken, Lucas Kampshoff, and Joe Gokie each tallied two runs apiece to lead Post 12. Dylan Prouty drove in three runs, while Cody Oswald drove in two runs.

Connor Comer took the loss for Post 164, allowing four runs on four hits.

Aiden Haught led Post 164 with one hit in two at bats.


Blair, Neb. 12, Post 911 Chargers 5

YANKTON — Blair, Neb. pulled away for a Legion baseball win over the Post 911 Chargers on Friday.

Tanner Jacobson took the win for Blair, Neb., allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one in two innings.

Spencer McGowan took the loss for the Post 911 Chargers, pitching two innings and allowing four hits and five runs while striking out two.

Tate Connell led the Post 911 Chargers with two hits in three at bats.


Brandon Valley Post 131 9, Post 15 0

VERMILLION — Brandon Valley Post 131 earned a Legion baseball win over Post 15 on Friday.

Tayden Mitchell took the win for Post 131, pitching five innings and allowing zero runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking zero.

Post 131 recorded 11 hits, with Austin Reiter leading the way with four hits in four at bats. Daniel Butyen had three hits and Ty Peyton added two hits. Reiter drove in three runs, while Peyton and Matt Brown drove in two runs. Reiter also had a home run.

Landon Weis took the loss for Post 15, allowing eight hits and six runs in 2 ⅓  innings, while striking out two and walking one.
