Mount Vernon 15, Parkston Mudcats 0 (6 innings)

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon pounded out 16 hits en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Tuesday. 

Deric Denning and Eric Giblin both hammered home runs, while Denning finished with three hits and four RBI. Giblin added two hits and drove in three runs. Spencer Neugebauer had three hits and knocked in three runs. Brady Albrecht added four hits and drove in two runs. Bradley Dean and Chase Hetland had two hits apiece. Dean drove in two runs. Denning earned the win after 12 strikeouts, five hits allowed, zero runs allowed and three walks in six innings. 

For the Mudcats, Billy Hamilton had two of the team’s five hits. Nate Doering, Brady Nolz and Dylan Mogck each had hits. Doering took the loss after allowing nine hits, seven earned runs, one walk and struck out three batters in three innings. 


Alexandria 14, Corsica-Stickney 9

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria racked up 14 hits in a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Corsica-Stickney on Tuesday.

Jordan Gau logged a team-high three hits and drove in one run. Reid Smith had two hits and drove four runs. Tyson Gau added two hits and three RBI. Cole Wenande, Jerrod Zens and Tucker Kingsbury had two hits apiece. Michael Schoettmer had one hit and an RBI. Tyson Gau picked up the win after allowing nine hits, five earned runs, two walks and struck out eight batters in his eight-inning start.

For Corsica-Stickney, Luke Bamberg posted three hits and knocked in two runs. Ryan Buck and Jordan Dirkes had two hits apiece. Sean Pinkerton, Kris Menning, Mason VanVuuren, Nathan Blom and Brendan Wentland each had hits. Blake Moke took the loss after allowing nine hits, seven earned runs, six walks and struck out seven batters in his six-inning start. 


Platte 14, Dimock-Emery 6

PLATTE — Platte scored 12 runs in the final three innings to earn a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Tuesday. 

Ryan Allen led the Killer Tomatoes with four hits, while Richard Sternberg added three hits and two RBI. Sheldon Gant and Hunter Hewitt had two hits and three RBI apiece. Preston Nedved had two hits and drove in two runs. Grant Doom, Hayden Kuiper, Michael Buitenbos and Grayson Hanson each had hits. Buitenbos earned the win after allowing seven hits, one earned run, zero walks and struck seven batters in his seven-inning start.

For Dimock-Emery, Peyton Nash finished with two hits and two RBI. Drew Kitchens, Sam Pischke, Doug Sudbeck, Sam Arend, Gene Kitchens, Darin Bartscher and Chase Arend had hits. Josh Engquist took the loss after allowing 15 hits, nine earned runs, three walks and struck out five batters in his seven-inning start.
