Colome Chaos 12, Wessington Springs Owls 1 (7 innings) 

COLOME — Colome collected 20 hits and seven extra-base hits en route to a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win over Wessington Springs on Thursday. 

Ben Connot and Kelly O’Bryan had three hits and two RBI apiece. Korey Harris added two hits and belted a two-run homer. Ethan Vobr, Jake Luse, Jackson Kinzer, Sid Bice and Dalton Baker each had two hits. Shea Connot and Carter Brickman each had a hit. Bice drove in three runs, while Ben Connot, O’Bryan and Baker each had two RBI. Vobr added an RBI. 

Luse picked up the win after striking out five batters, allowing seven hits, one run and walked two batters. 

Wessington Springs’ Trevor Kenobbie and Austin Olson each had two hits, while Tarrek Butterfield, Curtis Collins and Gerritt Brandenburg each had a hit. Kenobbie drove in a run. Butterfield allowed 20 hits, 12 runs (11 earned), struck out four batters and walked zero in his 6.2-inning start. 


Chamberlain Mallards 7, Four Corners 4

CHAMBERLAIN — Chamberlain scored four runs in the sixth inning to secure a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win over Four Corners on Thursday.

Mike Schwartz finished 2 of 4 at the plate, while Dakota Munger, Cole Nachtigal, Payton Foxley and K. Forester each had a hit. Schwartz earned the win after allowing 12 hits, four runs (two earned), struck out four batters and walked two in a complete-game performance. 

Four Corners finished with 12 hits, including two apiece from Brad Hand, Cooper Hainy, Jeremy Hand and Justin Lester. Adam Kaus took the loss after allowing two hits, four runs, striking out one batter and walking one in one relief inning. 


Plankinton Gold Sox 2, Kimball/White Lake Nationals 1

KIMBALL — The Plankinton Gold Sox managed just three hits and surrendered 14, but it edged Kimball/White Lake in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball game on Thursday.  

Griffin Tobin had two of the team’s three hits, while Tom Harris had the other hit. Devin Mehlhaff allowed 11 hits, one run, two walks and struck out four batters in his six-inning start to earn the win. 

Kimball/White Lake’s Brian Zeman and Dylan Konechne had three hits apiece. Caden Lenz and Eathen Gaulke each had two hits, while Trent Wookey, Zak Wallner, Wesley Kroupa and Jesse Kroupa each had a hit. Zeman allowed two hits, two runs (one earned), issued two walks and struck out seven batters in his six-inning start. 


Plankinton Bankers 10, South Central Storm 2

PLANKINTON — Plankinton piled up 10 hits and Travis Gant struck out 12 batters in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win over South Central on Thursday. 

Drew Gerlach had three hits and drove in two runs. Josh Engquist and Trevor Boyd had two hits apiece, while Boyd had three RBI. Alex Loes, Trevor Salmonson and Chris Hill each had a hit. Loes drove in two runs.

Gant gave up five hits, two runs (one earned) and issued one walk in his complete-game performance. 

South Central’s Cole Christopherson smacked a solo home run and finished with two hits. Triv Vosika, Blake Boes and Rhoss Oliver each had a hit. Paul Taggart was tagged with the loss after allowing seven hits, six runs (five earned), struck out six batters and walked six in his 5.1-inning start. 


Winner/Colome Pheasants 16, Platte Killer Tomatoes 3 (7 innings) 

PLATTE — Nine Winner/Colome players combined for 16 hits en route to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Platte on Thursday. 

Derek Graesser and Chandler Bakley had three hits apiece, while Graesser drove in four runs and hammered a three-run homer. Bakley finished with five RBI. Drew DeMers, Brendan Kamerzell and Zach Harter each had two hits. Reed Harter, Austin Calhoon and Austin Richey each had a hit. J.J. Farner earned the win after scattering five hits, three earned runs, striking out three batters and walking one in seven innings. 

Platte’s Preston Nedved belted a solo homer, while Richard Sternberg, Grant Doom, Derek Soukup and Owen London each had a hit. Hayden Kuiper took the loss after allowing 10 hits, 10 earned runs, striking out two batters and walking one in his three-inning start. 


Mount Vernon Mustangs 11, Parkston Mudcats 4

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon used a pair of four-run innings to secure a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Parkston on Thursday. 

Eric Giblin finished with a team-high three hits and drove in a run, while Cameron Deinert crushed a grand slam in the eighth inning. Spencer Neugebauer, Briggs Havlik, Chase Hetland, Koby Larson and Brady Albrecht each had a hit. Luke Tiesler took the win after striking out six batters, allowing four hits, four earned runs and walked four batters in a complete-game performance. 

Parkston’s Spencer Freudenthal, Nate Doering and Landon Sudbeck each had two hits. Jeff Harris, Isaac Bialas, Nate Boettcher, Billy Hamilton, Ryan McGinnis and Dillon Stadlman each had a hit. Jake Devine allowed eight hits, 10 runs (two earned), struck out six batters and walked nine batters in the loss. 


Flandreau Cardinals 14, Canova Gang 9

FLANDREAU — Keith Cutler and Aiden Ladd both belted home runs as Flandreau picked up a Cornbelt League amateur baseball win over Canova on Thursday. 

Cutler hit a three-run homer, while Ladd belted a solo home run. Ladd finished with three hits and drove in two runs. Nate Kneebone, Beau Severtson, Luke Gassman and Bret Severtson each had multiple hits. Dallas Schneiderman struck out six batters, allowed eight hits, seven runs (six earned) and walked two batters in his 6.1-inning start. 

Canova finished with 11 hits, including two apiece from Riley Genzlinger, Derek Miller and Jared Miller. Genzlinger drove two runs and Justin Miller belted a solo home run. Derek Miller allowed 15 hits, 11 runs (three earned), walked zero and struck out three in his five-inning start.
