Platte Killer Tomatoes 2, Parkston Devil Rays 1 

PARKSTON — Platte scored one run in eighth-inning to outlast Parkston in Sunshine League action Thursday night.

Travis Gant earned the victory on the mound for Platte, allowing just two hits, three walks, and one run in 7.1 innings, striking out seven.

Sheldon Gant drove in one run on one hit, while Hunter Hewitt, Jimmy DeWaard, and Dawson Hoffman each tallied hits in the win.

For Parkston, Jake Helleloid took the loss in an eight-inning effort, allowing four hits, a walk, and two runs, striking out 11.

Jonah Schmidt highlighted the Devil Ray offense with a solo homer in the sixth inning, while Seth Muth tallied a hit in the loss as well.


Tabor Bluebirds 8, Menno Mad Frogs 2

TABOR — The Bluebirds racked up 11 hits as Tabor defeated Menno in South Central League action Thursday night.

Brady Bierema led the offense with three hits, Riley Rothschadl batted 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI, Hunter Hallock drove in a run on two hits, including a double, and Zach Sutera tacked on two hits, driving in two more runs.

Joey Slama and Sam Caba each drove in a run, while Beau Rothschadl tallied a hit as well.

Bryce Scieszinski took the victory on the mound, allowing two hits, four walks, and one run over five innings pitched, striking out four batters.

For Menno, Brayden Sattler took the loss in a seven-inning effort, allowing 11 hits, four walks, and eight runs.

Spencer Schultz and Bryce Sattler tallied one hit each, with Schultz driving in a run for Menno.


Wessington Springs Owls 3, Winner Demons 1

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Parker DeJean struck out 15 batters in a complete-game performance as Wessington Springs picked up a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

DeJean allowed four hits, five walks and zero earned runs on 171 pitches. Caleb Jost, Coy Fastnacht, Drew Olinger, Clay Olinger, Blake Larson and Dalton Mogck each had hits for the Owls.

For Winner, Pierce Nelson, Casey Heenan, Derek Waltner and Bryce Bohnet each had hits. Ethan Bartels took the loss, allowing six hits, three walks, zero earned runs and struck out 11 batters in eight innings. 


Burke Bombers 6, Chamberlain Mallards 3

BURKE — Hunter Van Niewenhuyse threw three shutout innings while driving in two runs offensively as Burke defeated Chamberlain in Pony Hills League action Thursday.

Van Niewenhuyse batted 3-for-4 with a double and homer, while allowing just three hits and a walk in three innings pitched, striking out seven batters.

Christian Schweigert drove in two runs on a double, Rylan Peck tallied three hits, while Coy Determan, JJ Beck, and Tommy Determan each tallied hits in the win.

Brogan Glover took the victory on the mound for Burke, allowing two hits, three walks, and three runs over six innings, striking out eight batters.

For Chamberlain, Dakota Munger batted 2-for-3 with two doubles, driving in all three runs, while Mike Schwartz, Ian Anderson, and Cade Johnson each tallied hits.

Evan Steiner took the loss in eight innings pitched, allowing 10 hits, one walk, and six runs, striking out 16 batters.


Alexandria Angels 5, Mount Vernon Mustangs 1

ALEXANDRIA — Riley McSherry struck out eight batters as the Alexandria Angels picked up a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

McSherry allowed five hits, one earned run and walked six batters on 154 pitches in the complete-game performance. 

Offensively, Michael Schoettmer finished 3-for-3 and drove in a run. Tyson Gau had two hits, while Cole Wenande, Jordan Gau, Jerrod Zens, Jacob Giles and Peyton Smith each had hits. Wenande, Zens and Giles drove in runs. 

For Mount Vernon, Spencer Neugebauer, Walker Hultgren, Chase Hetland, Bradley Dean and Cameron Deinert each had hits. Hultgren drove in a run. Dean took the loss, allowing 10 hits, three earned runs, two walks and struck out four batters in eight innings. 


Winner/Colome Pheasants 12, Parkston Mudcats 6

WINNER — Winner/Colome erupted for 22 hits as the Pheasants defeated Parkston in Sunshine League action Thursday night.

Aiden Barfuss batted 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, Austin Calhoon batted 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, JJ Farner went 5-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and Reed Harter drove in one run on three hits as well.

Derek Graesser batted 2-for-5 with an RBI, Oscar Pravecek drove in one run on one hit, Austin Richey tallied three hits, while Dillon Lambley tacked on two more hits.

Farner earned the victory on the mound, allowing nine hits, four walks, and five runs while striking out nine batters. Harter came on in Relief, allowing two hits, a walk, and one run in the final three innings, tallying nine strikeouts.

For Parkston, Jake Weber took the loss in a complete-game outing, allowing 22 hits and 12 runs while striking out nine batters.

Luke Bormann, Will Jodozi, Jeff Harris, and Dylan Mogck each recorded two hits, with Harris and Mogck driving in one run each. Ryan McGinnis, Dillon Stadlman, and Jake Weber each drove in one run in the loss as well. 


Dimock/Emery Raptors 11, Corsica Horned Frogs 4

EMERY — Dimock-Emery pounded out 13 hits and Phil Johnson struck out six batters in a Sunshine League amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Chase Arend paced Dimock-Emery with four hits, five RBI and smacked a two-run homer. Drew Kitchens, Phil Johnson and Sam Pischke had two hits apiece. Pischke and Colton Plagmann had two hits apiece. Peyton Nash and Johnson each drove in runs. Landon Waddell added an RBI. Johnson scattered six hits, allowed three earned runs and walked one batter in seven innings. Waddell struck out five batters, allowed zero runs, three walks and two hits in two relief innings. 

For Corsica, Blake Moke hammered a two-run homer. Brady Christoffels had two hits. Luke Bamberg, Aaron Groeneweg, Nathan Blom, Gavin Zomer and Caleb Crist each had hits. Brendan Wentland took the loss, allowing nine hits, six earned runs, three walks and struck out four batters in six innings. 


Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 9, Freeman Blacksox 0

CROFTON — James Kaiser and Zach Hegge tossed six strikeouts each as Crofton defeated Freeman in South Central League action Thursday night.

Kaiser earned the victory on the mound, throwing six innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while Hegge didn’t allow a baserunner over the final three frames.

Austin Tramp drove in three runs on two hits for Crofton, Seth Wiebelhaus batted 3-for-4 with a walk, double, and triple, driving in one run, Trent Jansen batted 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, and Tyler Koch drove in one run on one hit in the win as well.

For Freeman, Jackson Fiegen took the loss in six innings, allowing 10 hits, one walk, and four runs while striking out five.

Fiegen, Mitch Wollman, and Trey Christensen each tallied hits in the loss.


Four Corners 10, Colome Chaos 0

COLOME — Four Corner’s pitching duo helped blank Colome in Pony Hills League  action Thursday night.

Josh Davies started on the mound 4C, allowing six hits and two walks over five innings, while striking out five batters. Austin Hand came on in relief, allowing one hit over the final four innings, striking out five more batters.

Sam Hand led the offense with three hits, a walk, and two RBIs, while River Iverson drove in three runs on two hits and a walk. Austin Hand batted 3-for-5 with a double, Justin Lester drove in two runs on two hits, while Andrew McCloud and Noah Hainy each drove in a run on one hit.

For Colome, Carter Brickman, Ethan Vobr, Eli Vobr, Layton Thieman, Dave Baker, Cameron Biggins, and Joshua Buttler each tallied hits in the loss.

Brickman saw the most time on the mound for Colome, allowing six hits, four walks, and two runs in 6.2 innings, striking out seven.


Kimball/White Lake Nationals 13, Plankinton Bankers 1 (7 innings)

KIMBALL — Ethan Price’s 11 strikeouts limited the Bankers to just one run as the Nationals defeated Plankinton in Pony Hills League action Thursday night.

Price threw five innings, allowing just one hit and five walks along with one run to earn the victory on the mound.

Dylanger Pierson highlighted the Nationals offense with a three run homer, Carter Lenz drove in two runs on two hits, Dylan Konenchne batted 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and an RBI, and Trent Wookey batted 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs as well.

Hudson Heath and Wesley Kroupa each drove in one run on one hit, while Caden Lenz and Jaxon Christensen each tallied hits in the win.

For Plankinton, Dawson Mehlhaff took the loss in 4.2 innings pitched, allowing eight hits, six walks, and 12 runs while striking out seven.

Cain Tobin tallied the only hit of the game for Plankinton.
