Winner/Colome Pheasants 5, Mount Vernon Mustangs 4 (12 innings) 

WINNER — Austin Calhoon’s walk-off single in the 12th inning propelled Winner/Colome to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Mount Vernon Thursday. 

Calhoon and Reed Harter led Winner/Colome with three hits apiece. Derek Graesser, Drew DeMers, Chandler Bakley and Dillon Lambley each had a hit. Calhoon and Lambley each drove in two runs. 

Connor Hopkins struck out three batters, allowed five hits, three earned runs and walked five batters in his 6.1-inning start. Farner earned the win after scattering four hits and striking out two batters in three scoreless relief innings. 

Mount Vernon's Spencer Neugebauer and Brady Albrecht both belted home runs. Neugebauer, Albrecht and Briggs Havlik each had two hits. Chase Hetland added three hits, while Bradley Dean, Koby Larson and Deric Denning each had a hit. Denning took the loss after allowing three hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out two batters in 4.1 relief innings.

Colome Chaos 4, Chamberlain Mallards 3 (10 innings)

COLOME — Kelly O’Bryan’s walk-off sacrifice fly lifted Colome to a Pony Hills League amateur baseball victory over Chamberlain Thursday. 

Ben Connot, who scored the game-winning run, finished with three hits and drove in a run. Korey Harris added two hits, while Jackson Kinzer, Sid Bice, Jake Luse and Shea Connot each had a hit. Carter Brickman and O’Bryan combined for 14 strikeouts (seven apiece).

Brickman allowed six hits, two runs (one earned) and didn’t allow a walk through the first eight innings. O’Bryan gave up one hit and one run in the final three innings. 

Chamberlain's Mike Schwartz hit a solo homer and finished with three hits. Ryan Randall added two hits, while Evan Steiner, Dakota Munger and Cole Nachtigal each had a hit. Steiner struck out 15 batters, allowed eight hits, three runs (two earned) and walked two batters through 10 innings.

Alexandria Angels 7, Parkston Mudcats 3

PARKSTON — Alexandria plated the final seven runs to pick up a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Parkston on Thursday. 

Michael Schoettmer led the Angels with two hits and two RBI, while Jerrod Zens smacked a two-run homer. Pierce Smith added two hits, while Matt Wilber and Peyton Smith each had a hit. Ethan Davis struck out nine batters, gave up seven hits and three earned runs on 108 pitches in the complete-game performance. 

Parkston’s Brady Nolz hammered a three-run homer in the first inning. Nate Doering added two hits, while Jeff Harris, Dawson Semmler, Ryan McGinnis and Cade Gemar each had a hit. Dillon Stadlman allowed five hits, four runs (three earned), walked two batters and struck out two batters in his 5.2-inning start.

Plankinton Bankers 7, Four Corners 5

PLANKINTON — Alex Loes belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning to break a tie and lift Plankinton Bankers to a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win over Four Corners Thursday.

Loes also hit a solo homer in the fourth inning and drove in four total runs. Josh Engquist added three hits and an RBI. Cole Knippling, Chris Hill, Travis Gant, Drew Gerlach and Preston Kristensen each had a hit. Gant started the first six innings, allowing seven hits, four runs (three earned), struck out four batters and walked two. Engquist earned the win after allowing four hits, one earned run, struck out three batters and issued zero walks in the final three innings. 

Nate Hainy recorded four hits for Four Corners, while Cooper Hainy and Jason Overweg had two hits apiece. J.D. Farley took the loss. He struck out six batters, allowed three hits, two runs (one earned) and walked three in three relief innings. 


Canova Gang 9, Lennox Alpacas 4

CANOVA — Canova scored the final six runs to secure a Cornbelt League amateur baseball win over Lennox Thursday. 

Derek Miller finished with three hits and drove in three runs. Riley Genzlinger added two hits and two RBI. Kendall Gassman earned the win, striking out five batters, allowing seven hits, four runs (one earned) and walking one batter through seven innings.
