McCook Central/Montrose 15, Gayville-Volin 7

ABERDEEN — McCook Central/Montrose pulled away from Gayville-Volin during Friday’s Class B state semifinals. The Fighting Cougars will face Castlewood for the Class B state championship at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Zaidee Huls had two hits and an RBI in the win, Josalyn Traupel added two RBIs on a double and a walk while Landry Andal and Braylee Meyer both had an RBI on one hit, including a homer by Andal, in the win.

Huls earned the win on the mound in seven innings of work, allowing seven runs on 13 hits and five walks, striking out four.

For GV, Jolie Westrum surrendered the loss, allowing 15 runs on six hits and five walks, striking out three.

Paisley Dimmer had three hits and an RBI, Hailey Adams tallied two hits and an RBI, Ali Westrum had two RBIs on one hit, Kendra Beeck and Miley Hansen both added an RBI on one hit while Olivia Brown collected three hits in the loss.


Castlewood 12, Hanson 7

ABERDEEN — A six-run sixth inning powered Castlewood over Hanson in the Class B state semifinals on Friday. The Warriors will play McCook Central/Montrose at 4 p.m. Saturday in the state championship.

Natalie Akin powered the Warriors with three RBIs on two hits, one double, Sophia Kudrna had three hits, including a solo homer, Cydni Kudrna tallied two RBIs on two triples, Lilly Jacobsen added two RBIs on one hit while Claire Horn had an RBI on one hit in the win.

Horn took the win on the mound in seven complete innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and six walks, striking out eight.

For Hanson, Jacey Schoenrock took the loss in six innings pitched, allowing 12 runs on 14 hits, striking out two.

Skya White had four hits and two RBIs, Schoenrock added four RBIs on three hits while Neecee Suber tallied an RBI-double in the loss.


Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 13, Avon 4

ABERDEEN — Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy pounded out 17 hits as the Phoenix defeated Avon in state consolation semifinal action on Friday. FMFA will play Redfield at 12 p.m. in the consolation championship on Saturday.

Claire Loofbourrow tallied three hits and two RBIs, including a homer, Remington Weier added three RBIs on two hits, Aubree Tschetter collected two RBIs on two hits, Avary Thomas had three hits and an RBI, Harli Ross tallied two hits and an RBI, Abby Bradley had two RBIs on one hit while Samantha Fansen added two hits and a walk in the win.

Ross took the win on the mound in seven innings of work, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk, striking out five.

For Avon, Kaydence Metzger took the loss allowing 12 runs on 16 hits and a walk in 5.2 innings.

Brielle Voigt tallied three RBIs on two hits while Metzger added two hits in the loss.


Redfield 7, Florence/Henry 6

ABERDEEN — Redfield held off a late rally to beat Florence/Henry in the Class B consolation semifinals on Friday. The Pheasants will play Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy at 12 p.m in the consolation championship.

Ella Rude-Peterson led the Pheasants with three hits, Mady Morrissette and Kinley Smith each tallied two hits and an RBI while Kylie Hermann added an RBI on one hit in the win.

Octavia Paulsen tossed six innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and five walks, striking out three.

For FH, Elizabeth Reiter took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits and a walk, striking out seven in the loss.

Reiter and Samantha Fuller each drove in a run on one hit while Ashlynn Vavruska, Kaylee Vavruska and A Caulfield each tallied two hits in the loss.
