Gayville-Volin 7, Hanson 0

ABERDEEN — Jolie Westrum’s complete-game shutout guided Gayville-Volin over Hanson in the third-place game at the Class B state tournament on Saturday.

Westrum allowed just four hits and two walks in seven shutout innings, striking out five in the win.

Paisley Dimmer had two RBIs on one hit, Hailey Adams added an RBI on a walk while Kendra Beeck collected an RBI-single in the win.

For Hanson, Jacey Schoenrock took the loss in seven innings of work, allowing seven runs on four hits and one walk, striking out 11.

Jozlynn Tegethoff, Schoenrock, Rylee Furgeson and Tenly Slaba each had a hit in the loss.
 

Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 9, Redfield 3

ABERDEEN — Harli Ross struck out 13 batters as Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy defeated Redfield in the consolation championship game on Saturday.

Ross allowed three runs on six hits in seven complete innings, striking out 13 in the win.

Claire Loofbourrow had two RBIs on a double, Aubree Tschetter tallied two hits while Elizabeth Piehl, Samantha Fransen and Remington Weier each drove in a run in the win.

For Redfield, Makayla Schulz took the loss in 4.2 innings, allowing five unearned runs on four hits, striking out two.

Charli Jungwirth and Kylie Hermann each had two hits while Layla Hardie tallied an RBI-double in the loss.
 

Avon 13, Florence/Henry 3

ABERDEEN — Kaydence Metzger, Rilyn Thury and Pria Sesler each drove in three runs as Avon rolled past Florence/Henry to claim seventh place at the Class B state tournament on Saturday.

Metzger and Thury each had three RBIs on two hits while Sesler added three RBIs on one hit in the win. Brielle Voigt had two hits and an RBI while Rowan Brandt tallied an RBI-triple in the win.

Metzger tossed seven innings to take the win on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks, striking out eight.

For FH, Emma Caulfield took the loss in two innings of work, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk, striking out three.

Ashlynn Vavruska and Caulfied each had two hits while Kaylee Vavruska and Jayda Orthaus both drove in a run in the loss.
