MITCHELL — It was a walk-it-off Saturday afternoon at the state amateur baseball tournament at Cadwell Park as both Lesterville and Larchwood won in its team’s final at-bat.

Chase Vander Feen’s base hit in the bottom of the 10th gave the Diamonds a 6-5 win in 10 innings over Lennox, while Lesterville’s Ethan Wishon’s hit in the bottom of the ninth game the Broncs a 6-5 win over Dell Rapids PBR.

Both teams will meet in Tuesday’s second round.

Larchwood took a 2-1 lead after three innings before the Alpacas scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. However, the Diamonds would tie it back up at 3-3 with a run in the bottom half of the inning and take a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Lennox would bounce back — scoring a pair of runs in the eighth and ninth innings to tie it at 5-5 before Feen’s heroics in the bottom of the 10th.

Cody Groskruetz and Feen led Larchwood at the plate with four hits while Dan Gacke picked up the win.

Corey Vasquesz led Lennox at the plate with three hits while Quincy Ihnenn and Walker Hultgren added two hits each.

Earlier in the afternoon, Lesterville jumped out to a 4-1 lead after five innings before PBR scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie it at 4-4. The teams would trade runs in the eight before Lesterville prevailed in the bottom of the ninth.

Tanner Van Driel and Wishon led the Broncs with three hits each.

Riley Hoffman, Weston Hansen, Matt Gillogly and David Kirby led PBR with two hits each.
