BOULDER CANYON, Nev. — Little Wound High School graduate Lance Christensen Jr., placed second at the NCAA Division II men’s golf tournament. The second-place finish earned Christensen Jr., NCAA Division II All-American honors. 

The Colorado Christian University senior shot a 13-under par, finishing four shots behind first-place finisher Octavio Laurent of the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

On Wednesday, Christensen Jr., began the day tied for eighth place and surged back with an 8-under par 64 round. He shot a 33 on the front nine and a 31 on the back nine. His round included two birdies and three eagles. 

Playing at Boulder Creek Golf Club, Christensen Jr., shot a 69 on Monday and a 70 on Tuesday. 

As a team, Colorado Christian finished in eighth place and will compete in match play action on May 21-22. 

Earlier in the week, Christensen Jr., earned all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference second-team honors. In his first year as a Cougar, Christensen Jr., has been stellar to help a new-look Cougars team make the NCAA National Championships for the third straight season.

He has earned six top-20 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at the Sam Proal Insurance Invite in Pueblo, Colorado. Through 11 tournaments Christensen Jr., has a scoring average of 73.0 as he continues to be a key piece to the team in his lone season at CCU.
