MINNEAPOLIS — Lower Brule’s Nate Middletent was named MVP of the Native All-American Football Game on Dec. 14. 

Middletent and Team Wa’Ya defeated Team Ta’Tanka in the football game played at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings. Sixty-eight Native American high school seniors from 48 tribal communities, 21 states and Canada played in the game.

A 6-foot, 235-pound running back, Middletent was an all-state running back this past season. He rushed for 1,050 yards and scored 11 touchdowns, while he posted 44 tackles and two sacks on defense.
