May 10 High School Baseball Roundup - Centerville's Logan Bobzin strikes out 16 batters in two-hit shutout

CENTERVILLE — Logan Bobzin mowed down 16 batters in a two-hit shutout high school baseball win over Menno/Scotland on Tuesday.

Bobzin didn’t allow a walk, faced 23 batters and threw 100 pitches in the complete-game performance. Offensively, Bobzin and Cole Edberg had two hits apiece, while Bobzin drove in a run. Aiden Bobzin had Centerville’s other hit and Lincoln Mansfield drove in a run.

For Menno/Scotland, Kaedyn Ulmer and Kalen Maruska each had a hit. Trent Guthmiller struck out five batters, allowed five hits, two runs and walked two batters in his 5.1-inning start. 


Pierre 4, Brookings 1

PIERRE — Lincoln Kienholz struck out 10 batters in Pierre’s high school baseball win over Brookings on Tuesday. 

Kienholz allowed three hits, one earned run and struck out two batters in the complete-game performance. He also had an RBI on offense. 

George Stalley, Caden Kaiser and Brecken Krueger each had a hit, while Stalley and Krueger each drove in a run. 

Brookings’ Nathan Lease had two of the team’s three hits, while Sam Hardin had the other hit and drove in the lone run. Josh Devine took the loss after allowing three hits, four runs (two earned), struck out two batters and walked two batters. 


Brookings 11, Pierre 3

PIERRE — Brookings pounded out 15 hits en route to a high school baseball win over Pierre on Tuesday. 

Jake Ammann finished 2 of 4 and smacked a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Lincoln Hardin finished 3 of 5 and drove in a run. Breck Hirrschoff, Ashton Witte and Sam Hardin each had two hits apiece. Witte and Sam Hardin each drove in two runs. Nathan Lease struck out five batters, allowed five hits, walked four batters and allowed one earned run in his six-inning start. 

Pierre’s Lincoln Kienholz recorded two hits, while Jayden Wiebe, Gary Nedved and Jett Zabel each had a hit. Jackson Edman took the loss after he allowed eight hits, seven runs (six earned), struck out four batters and walked three in his four-inning start. 


West Central 7, Sioux Falls Christian 3

HARTFORD — Duece Sherrard had three hits and Gavin Gerloch slugged a home run in West Central’s high school baseball win over Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday.

Sherrard 3 of 3 and drove in two runs, while Gerloch’s lone hit was a solo homer in the second inning. Grafton Stroup and Caden Alfson had two hits and two RBI apiece. Andrew Zimmer struck out six batters, scattered nine hits, walked two batters and allowed three earned runs in the complete-game win. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Jacob Docter had three of the team’s nine hits and drove in a run. Tate Snyder finished with two hits, while Cole Snyder, Jacob Sanderson, Caden Reitz and Harris Adamson each had a hit. Cole Snyder allowed six hits, four earned runs, walked one batter and struck out one batter in three innings. 


Baltic 5, Garretson 1

GARRETSON — Andrew Vandam and Riley Schultz combined for 10 strikeouts in Baltic’s high school baseball win over Garretson on Tuesday.

Vandam struck out three batters, allowed two hits, one run and walked zero batters in his four-inning start. Schultz fanned seven batters, allowed no hits and no runs in three relief innings. 

Jose Valadez and Tayden Hansen finished with two hits apiece for Baltic, while Caleb Kittelson, Hunter Larson, Riley Dobbins and Schultz each had a hit. 

Garretson’s Isaiah Gnadt allowed five hits, two runs and struck out three batters in his three-inning start. Jayse Miller and Tayson Swatek each had a hit.
