Parkston Devil Rays 8, Plankinton Bankers 2

MITCHELL —  Two Devil Ray pitchers combine for 22 strikeouts at Cadwell Park to knock off the Bankers in non-league action.

Jake Helleloid started on the mound for the Rays, dishing out 16 strikeouts in the first six innings of play, while allowing one hit, three walks, and one unearned run.

Dylan Soulek came on to close for Parkston, throwing six more strikeouts in the final three innings, giving up three hits, a walk, and two runs.

The Devil Ray offense was highlighted by a three-run home run by Jonah Schmidt. Schmidt drove in four runs total in the victory.

For the Bankers, Thomas Stange tallied the loss on the mound, giving up two hits and one earned run in three innings. Teegan Schlimgen and Drew Gerlach came on in relief of Stange, giving two hits, 14 walks, and five earned runs.

Austin Hauge, Blaine Bohr, Griffin Tobin, and Teegan Schlimgen each recorded hits in the loss.


Dimock-Emery 9, Lesterville 2

LESTERVILLE — Peyton Nash hammered two home runs to power Dimock-Emery to a non-league amateur baseball win on Tuesday. 

Nash finished 3-of-5 and drove in five runs, including a fifth-inning grand slam. Chase Arend had three hits, two doubles and drove in a run. Phil Johnson went 2-of-5 and drove in two runs. Sam Pischke, Colton Plagmann, Josh Engquist and Sawyer Schultz each had hits. Engquist earned the win after striking out five batters, allowing eight hits and one earned run through six innings. 

Lesterville’s Tanner Van Driel and Garret Damico had three hits apiece. Ethan Wishon finished 2-of-4. Tyler Edler and Hunter Martin each had hits. 


Mount Vernon 11, Menno 4

MENNO — Luke Tiesler struck out eight batters and Mount Vernon pounded out 13 hits in a non-league amateur baseball win over Menno on Tuesday. 

Tiesler allowed two hits, issued two walks and allowed zero runs in five innings. Austin Graves finished 3-of-4 and drove in a run. JD Kirchner, Bradley Dean and Daniel Laufman had two hits for the Mustangs. Laufman drove in three runs, as did Seth Altwine. Kirchner struck out five batters, allowed two earned runs and one hit in two relief innings. 

For Menno, Macon Oplinger finished 3-of-4 and drove in a run. Dylan Lehr and Nick Ratzloff each had hits. Brayden Sattler drove in two runs. Jacob Schott took the loss after allowing six earned runs, five walks and struck out three batters in 2.1 innings.
