May 16 High School Baseball Roundup - Rylan Peck homers, Gregory County records 15 hits against Martin

Gregory County 11, Martin 2

GREGORY — Gregory County erupted for 15 hits in a high school baseball win over Martin on Monday.

Rylan Peck finished 3 of 3, drove in three runs and belted a two-run homer. Sawyer Tietgen, Reed Benter, Bryce Frank and Sawyer Tietgen recorded two hits apiece. Frank and Gannon Thomas drove in two runs apiece. Ben Witt, Alex Songer and Kade Braun each had a hit. 

Brogan Glover struck out five batters, allowed two earned runs, no hits and walked two batters in his five-inning start. 

Martin’s Cayson Sonderlyn finished 1 of 3. Gavin Risse allowed 11 hits, 10 runs and struck out five batters in his 4 1/3 inning start. 


Hanson-Bridgewater-Emery 4, Sioux Falls Christian 2

ALEXANDRIA — Hunter Robinson struck out nine batters to lift Hanson-Bridgewater-Emery to a high school baseball win over Sioux Falls Christian on Monday.

Robinson surrendered three hits, one earned run and walked five batters in his six-inning start. Robinson also had a hit. 

Offensively, Jackson Jarding smacked a solo home run. Kade Waldera and Ben Wilber had two hits apiece in the win. Wilber drove in a run, while J. Satrang added a hit.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Tate Snyder had two of the team’s five hits and drove in a run. Cole Snyder, Aidan Strandberg and Jacob Sanderson also had hits. 

Tate Snyder struck out seven batters, allowed seven hits, allowed four runs (two earned) and walked one in his six-inning start. 


Bon Homme 10, Menno/Scotland 1

TYNDALL — Riley Rothschadl struck out 13 batters and smacked a solo home run in Bon Homme’s high school baseball win over Menno/Scotland on Monday. 

Rothschadl allowed two hits, one earned run and walked three batters in his five-inning start. He also had two hits, while Landon Bares, Wesley Kaul and Landon Schmidt also had two hits. Schmidt drove in three runs. Carter Uecker and Logan Winckler each added hits. 

For the Trappers, Austin Pillsbury and Turner Nicholson each had a hit. Treyton Sayler allowed six hits, five runs, walked two batters and struck out two in his five-inning start. 


Wolsey-Wessington/Miller/Wessington Springs/Woonsocket 3, Howard 2 (9 innings)

Keegan Haider scored on an error off a Gunner Brueggeman’s hit, propelling Wolsey-Wessington/Miller/Wessington Springs/Woonsocket to a one-run high school baseball win over Howard on Monday. 

Landon Cleveland had two of the team’s six hits. Quintin Christensen, Mason Schelske, Haider and Brueggeman also had hits. Christensen and Brueggeman drove in runs. 

Schelske struck out 10 batters, allowed five hits, two runs (one earned) and issued no walks in his 8.1-inning start. 

Howard’s Logan Mentele finished 2 of 3. Luke Koepsell allowed five hits, two runs, struck out 11 batters and walked one in his 7 2/3 inning start. 


Dell Rapids 12, Garretson 2 (6 innings)

DELL RAPIDS — Landon Ruesink hammered two home runs and Dylan Mathis belted a solo homer in Dell Rapids’ high school baseball win over Garretson on Monday.

Ruesink finished 3 of 4, drove in three runs and hit his runs in back-to-back innings. Mathis went 2 of 3 and scored three runs. Aiden Boechler added three hits, while Will Jaton and Sutton Williams had two hits apiece. Jaton drove in three runs. Treyse Eastman drove in a pair of runs for Dell Rapids, which recorded 14 hits. 

Joe Rechtenbaugh struck out eight batters, allowed two hits, two runs (one earned) and walked two batters in six innings.

Garretson’s Tayson Swatek and Ryan Flanagan each had a hit. Swatek took the loss after surrendering six runs on eight hits and struck out seven batters in his 4 1/3 inning start.
