After racking up 31 wins and earning a trip into the SoDak 16, the Ella Smith-coached Philip volleyball team placed five players on the Western Great Plains all-conference team.

“This team set the standards high and played competitive all season,” Smith said. “We have to be one of the smallest varsity teams in South Dakota with our tallest player being 5-foot-8.”

Some milestones hit this year for the Scotties.

  • Copper Lurz finished her career with 1,516 kills (school record) and finished with 1,163 digs.

  • Sophomore setter Rainee Snyder had 900 assists this season.

  • Sophomore libero Alyn Spry recorded her 1,000th dig in the SoDak 16 match.

White River also had an outstanding season winning the Lakota Nation Invitational while finishing 25-5. A couple of big numbers reached for a pair of Lady Tiger seniors.

  • Kelsey Morrison finished her career with more than 2,000 assists.

  • Karlie Cameron finished her career with just more than 2,000 digs.
