FAULKTON — Miller’s Pierce Baumberger and Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide captured individual titles at Wednesday’s Lakeside Invitational.

Baumberger covered the 5,000-meter distance at the Lakeside Country Club in 17 minutes and :59.10 seconds. North Central’s Gabe Johnson (18:23.44) and Frederick Area’s Milo Sumption (18:29.41) placed second and third, respectively. Faulkton Area’s Korbin Stark (18:39.22) and North Central’s Avery Wells (18:53.22) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. 

Boekelheide won the girls race in 19:07.38. Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Abigail Engelland (21:08.19) and Miller’s Madeline Nye (21:11.21) placed second and third, respectively. Northwestern’s Tara Blachford (21:31.50) and Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis (21:41.12) rounded out the top-five runners.

In the boys team standings, North Central (17) edged Frederick Area (19) for the team title. Faulkton Area (35) placed third. 

In the girls team standings, Potter County (13) finished ahead of Miller (28) and Herreid/Selby Area (34).
