CHAMBERLAIN — Miller’s Pierce Baumberger and Sioux Valley’s Maci Licht won titles at Thursday’s Chamberlain cross-country meet at the Chamberlain Country Club. The meet also served as the Big Dakota Conference meet in honor of former Chamberlain cross-country and track coach Garry Winter. 

Baumberger ran the 5000-meter course in 17:57, ahead of Philip’s Jack Peterson (18:14) and Sioux Valley’s Carson Wosje (18:18). Philip’s Baylor Burns (18:24) and Garretson’s Carter Siemonsma (18:27 rounded out the top-five individuals. 

Licht won the girls race with a time of 19:47, ahead of Chamberlain’s Grace Phillips (20:14) and Ethan/Parkston’s Ella Pollreisz (20:38). Burke’s Sophia Bauld (20:58) and Platte-Geddes’ Berklee Mills rounded out the top-five individuals. 

The Philip boys finished with 27 points, well ahead of Sioux Valley (52). The Chamberlain girls finished with 57 points, just in front of Sioux Valley (67).
