RAPID CITY — Mitchell leads the team standings after Day 1 of the Class A state boys tennis tournament. 

The Kernels, who have all six singles players onto Tuesday's semifinals, recorded 300 points on the opening day. Rapid City Christian (287.5) and Yankton (287.5) are just behind in second place. Pierre (224) and Sioux Falls Christian (214.5) round out the top-five teams. 

In individual action, Rapid City Christian’s Noah Greni (top seed) will face Mitchell’s Macon Larson in Tuesday’s Flight 1 semifinals. Larson, the No. 4 seed, earned a win over Sioux Falls Christian’s Landon Levenhagen (0-6, 6-2, 10-6) in the quarterfinals. In the other Flight 1 semifinals, Lennox’s Jaxon Plank will face Yankton’s Gage Becker. 

In Flight 2 singles, Mitchell’s Tyler Loecker, Pierre’s Blake Judson, Lennox’s Andrew Daugherty and Sioux Falls Christian’s Daniel Puumala all advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals. Daugherty is the No. 6 seed and topped No. 3 seed Joe Schneller, of Rapid City Christian, 7-5, 2-6 and 10-7 in the quarterfinals. 

In Flight 3 singles, top four seeds — Zach Briggs (Yankton), Jadon Munson (Sioux Falls Christian), Aidan Patrick (Mitchell) and Andrew Dobbs (Rapid City Christian) — all advanced to Tuesday semifinal action. 

In Flight 4 singles, top four seeds — Luke Leingang (Pierre), Jack Vermeulen (Mitchell), Harrison Krajewski (Yankton) and Jack Hancock (Rapid City Christian) — made the semifinals. 

In Flight 5 singles, top four seeds — Keaton List (Yankton), Noah Geyer (Rapid City Christian) Spencer Kelly (Pierre) and Josh Grosdidier (Mitchell) are into the semifinals. 

In Flight 6 singles, Mitchell’s Luke Jerke, Pierre’s Carter Schulz, Rapid City Christian’s Henry Beckloff and Yankton’s Miles Krajewski will play in the semifinals. 

In doubles action, Yankton, Lennox, Mitchell and Rapid City Christian will have teams into Flight 1 semifinals.

In Flight No. 2 doubles, Yankton, Pierre, Rapid City Christian and Mitchell have teams in the semifinals. 

In Flight No. 3 doubles, Yankton, Rapid City Christian, Sioux Falls Christian and Mitchell have teams in the semifinals.
