The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association meeting was held Sunday at Mitchell’s Highland Conference Center.

At the meeting, Mitchell’s Cadwell Park was officially awarded the 2024 Class B state tournament and South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association President Dale Weber was reappointed to a three-year term.

The 2025 state tournament site will be determined at a later date after the association receives submissions from interested communities. The deadline to submit proposals to host the 2025 state tournament is May 1.

“We will review those and make a determination for 2025, based on the interest of those communities that respond,” Weber said at the meeting.

Financially, the SDABA pocketed $75,881.30 during the 2022 state amateur baseball tourney. That figure included $9,075.33 in pay-per-view receipts and Weber said the association will continue its relationship with LiveTicket.Tv for live-streaming the event.

New amateur baseball teams include the Parkston Devil Rays and the Ramona Express.

Ace Boschee (District 2B), Brock Sundall (District 3B), Dave Roth (District 5B) and Aaron Jorenby (Class A) were appointed commissioners. Roth replaces Bob Altenburg, who was recognized for his 28 years of service.

The South Dakota Baseball Coaches Association awarded coaches of the year to the following individuals:

District 1B - Lake Norden’s Burt Tulson

District 2B - Redfield’s Tommy Gregg

District 3B - Plankinton Gold Sox’s Tom Harris

District 4B - Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks’ Chad Morrison
