MITCHELL — Dalton Lehnen put an exclamation point on who’s the best team in amateur baseball for 2021.

The answer the Dell Rapids Mudcats.

Lehnen hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning as part of a six-run inning to for the Mudcats in a 16-1 win over Flandreau.

The win marks the first title for the Mudcats since 2008 and the team’s second overall.

Lehnen led the Mudcats at the plate with three hits and five RBIs. Chad Hunt, Josh Roemen and Trevor Freudenthal added two hits each.

Kris Regas picked up the win, pitching a six innings, giving up one run on six hits. He struck out eight and walked none. 

Drew Demers led the Cardinals with two hits.
