Elk Point-Jefferson 47, Hot Springs 14 

ELK POINT — Elk Point-Jefferson used a 34-point first half to race past Hot Springs and earn a spot in the Class 11B championship game on Nov. 11. The Huskies will play Winner in the state title game. 

EPJ’s Noah McDermott went 7-for-9 passing for 226 yards and two touchdown passes. Devon Schmitz had 115 yards receiving and one touchdown, while Alex Scarmon had 68 yards receiving and a score. Ben Swatek rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown, while Lucas Hueser rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Hunter Geary added a rushing touchdown. Garrett Merkley returned the opening kickoff 74-yards for a touchdown.

Hot Springs was led by Preston Iverson with 75 yards rushing and 45 yards passing. Landon Iverson rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown, while Camron Maciejewski rushed for 56 yards and a score.

Wall 26, Hamlin 13 

WALL — Wall held off Hamlin and secured a berth in the Class 9AA state championship game on Friday. Wall will play Parkston on Nov. 11 in the state championship. 

Wall’s Cedar Amiotte racked up 128 rushing yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns on Friday. Burk Blasius finished with 167 passing yards and a rushing touchdown against Hamlin. Mason Heath added 38 rushing yards. Amiotte hauled in 83 receiving yards and intercepted two passes on defense. Brodi Sundall posted 6.5 tackles and Rylan McDonnell had 5.5 tackles. 

Hamlin’s Tyson Stevenson threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Fraser rushed for 60 yards on 17 carries. Evan Stormo hauled in five catches for 175 yards and had a touchdown reception. Fraser also caught a touchdown. Zac VanMeeteren posted 10 tackles. 

 

Herreid/Selby Area 62, Irene-Wakonda 30

HERREID — Herreid/Selby Area raced past Irene-Wakonda to secure a berth in the Class 9AA championship game on Friday. Herreid/Selby Area will play Hitchcock-Tulare on Nov. 10 in the state championship.

HSA’s Brenden Begeman amassed 322 rushing yards on 28 carries and five touchdowns. Tray Hettick went 7-for-9 passing for 109 yards, while rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Trevor Gill led with 72 receiving yards. Begeman and Nathan Bradford led the defense with eight tackles apiece.

Irene-Wakonda’s Dashel Spurrell rushed for two touchdowns, while passing for one touchdown. Garrett Libby had one touchdown reception, while Clay Broderson added a rushing touchdown.

 

Hitchcock-Tulare vs. De Smet 

TULARE — Hitchcock-Tulare blanked De Smet and secured a spot in the Class 9B state championship game on Friday. The Patriots will play Herreid/Selby Area on Nov. 10. 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Carter Binger threw for 234 yards and two passing touchdowns, while he rushed for 122 yards and three more scores. Erik Salmen added 67 rushing yards and a touchdown. Riley Fliehe had 88 rushing yards and a score. Landon Puffer posted 90 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. Cole Schroeder added 46 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. Mason Bottum intercepted two passes and had five tackles, while Puffer also recorded an interception. Binger had eight tackles. 

De Smet stats were not reported.

Winner 46, McCook Central/Montrose 6

WINNER — Winner used 398 total yards to cruise past McCook Central/Montrose and earn a spot in their fourth straight Class 11B championship game on Nov. 11.

Winner’s Aiden Barfuss rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Blake Volmer passed for 65 yards and two touchdown passes and added an interception on defense. Riley Orel and Shawn Hammerbeck each had one touchdown reception. Jude Sargent added a rushing touchdown.

MCM’s Boston Katzer passed for 118 yards and one touchdown, while Jackson Remmers rushed for 119 yards. Weston Remmers led with 56 receiving yards and one touchdown, while adding 11 tackles on defense.

 



Warner 63, Harding County/Bison  

WARNER — Warner piled up 377 total yards and put away Harding County/Bison in the Class 9A semifinals on Friday. Warner will play Gregory on Nov. 10 for the Class 9A state championship. 

Warner’s Hunter Cramer rushed for 129 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns. Charlie Dulany added 59 rushing yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns. Zach Wood and Payton Volk added rushing scores. Brody Sauerwein threw for 88 yards and a touchdown. Cramer also threw a passing touchdown. Wood hauled in 78 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions. Cramer had nine tackles and an interception. Wood also had an interception on defense. 

For Harding County/Bison, Rylee Veal rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Kelby Hett threw for 44 yards and a touchdown. Gage Gilbert hauled in 39 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. Wyatt Head posted eight tackles. 


Parkston 36, Elkton-Lake Benton 8

ELKTON — Parkston cruised past Elkton-Lake Benton in the Class 9AA semifinals on Friday. Parkston will play Wall on Nov. 11 for the Class 9AA state championship.

Parkston’s Kolter Kramer rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns, while Brayden Jervik had 48 rushing yards. Kaleb Weber passed for 55 yards, while rushing for 40 yards and one touchdown. Sam Benson also had 40 yards rushing and one touchdown, while Luke Bormann added 37 yards rushing and a score.

Elkton-Lake Benton was led by Ryan Krog with 65 yards passing and one touchdown, while rushing for 49 yards. Colt Beck led with 44 yards receiving, while Tanner Stein had a touchdown reception.

 

Pierre 59, Yankton 31

PIERRE — Pierre’s Lincoln Kienholz powered the Governors back to the DakotaDome on Friday. Pierre will play Tea Area in a Class 11AA state championship rematch on Nov. 12.

The all-state quarterback racked up seven total touchdowns — five on the ground and two through the air — in the semifinal victory. Kienholz threw passing touchdowns to Jack Merkwan and Cade Kaiser. Kienholz completed 11 of 19 passes for 334 yards passing, while he rushed for 245 yards. 

 

Dell Rapids 44, Sioux Falls Christian 26

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids used 515 total yards to pull away from Sioux Falls Christian and secure a spot in the Class 11A championship game on Nov. 11 against West Central.

Dell Rapids was led by Mason Stubbe with 164 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Jack Henry rushed for 153 yards, while passing for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Brayden Pankonen had one rushing and one receiving touchdown, while Camden Justice led with 80 yards receiving and one touchdown.

SFC’s Brayden Witte rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns, while Tayton Snyder passed for 62 yards. Carter Van Donge led with 36 receiving yards.


Tea Area 44, Aberdeen Central 7

TEA — Tea Area racked up 472 total yards and cruised past Aberdeen Central on Friday to punch their ticket to the Class 11AA championship game on Nov. 12.

Tea Area’s Blake Thompson rushed for 210 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns, while Chase Van Tol rushed for 170 yards on 19 carries and three more scores. Maddix Slykhuis passed for 59 yards and one touchdown. Parker Mulder had 33 yards receiving and one touchdown catch.

Aberdeen Central’s Dustin Hermansen passed for 111 yards and one touchdown. Spencer Barr had 76 yards receiving and one touchdown reception, while Karson Carda added 53 yards rushing. Will Heinert had 10 tackles and one sack to lead the defense, while Brian Johnson also added one sack.
