Nov. 8 Volleyball Roundup - Burke sweeps Kadoka Area to secure state tourney berth

Burke 3, Kadoka Area 0 

CHAMBERLAIN — Burke swept Kadoka Area and advanced to the Class B state volleyball tournament on Tuesday. The set scores were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-15.

Burke’s Kailee Frank finished with 11 kills and 12 digs. Adisyn Indahl added 10 kills, 12 digs and one ace. Emmie Hausmann recorded nine kills and two digs. Elly Witt added 23 assists and four digs. Ava Sargent posted 10 assists and six digs. Paige Bull logged five kills, while Piper Hanson had two kills and two digs. Elle Johnson added 23 digs. 

Kadoka Area stats were not reported. 

 



Miller 3, Groton Area 0

HURON — Miller swept Groton Area in SoDak 16 volleyball play and qualified for the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 25-21, 25-12 and 25-10.

Miller’s Ally Mullaney posted 13 kills, while Abbi Blake posted 10 kills and two solo blocks. Jaden Werdel and Tricia Lammers recorded six kills apiece. Tyra Gates finished with 33 assists and 12 digs. Jolie Palmer posted 24 digs and two aces. Aleah Schlechter had five digs. 

Groton Area stats were not reported. 


Northwestern 3, Faulkton Area 0 

IPSWICH — Northwestern swept Faulkton Area and advanced to the Class B state tournament on Tuesday. The set scores were 25-19, 25-22 and 25-11. 

Northwestern’s Ella Haven recorded 18 kills, 18 digs and three aces. She also broke the school record for kills in a season, breaking the previous mark set by Jussy Tuscherer (577). Haven currently sits at 586 kills this season.

Ashley Haven added 10 kills, 14 digs and two solo blocks. Payton Grandpre posted three kills and eight digs. Brooklinn Halvorson added 27 assists and two block assists.

 



Sioux Falls Christian 3, Redfield 0 

MADISON — Sioux Falls Christian swept Redfield in SoDak 16 volleyball action and advanced to the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-9.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Sidney Oostra finished with 15 kills and three aces. Peyton Poppema added 12 kills and 11 digs. Ellie Lems recorded three blocks. Addisen Barber added 37 assists and three aces. Lavin Maddox finished with 12 digs. 

Redfield stats were not reported.

Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Lakota Tech 0

MITCHELL — Elkton-Lake Benton defeated Lakota Tech in three sets and advanced to the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 25-12, 25-14 and 25-7.

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Tevan Erickson dished out 28 assists and recorded her 2,000th career assist. Erickson also had seven digs, two solo blocks and two aces. Andrea Renkly recorded 10 kills and two aces. Rachael Krog added eight kills, 12 digs and two aces. Kailyn Drietz had seven kills and six digs. Kylie Ramlo finished with nine digs, three kills and two aces. Kayla Goertz finished with seven digs and Aubree Bales posted four kills. 

Lakota Tech stats were not reported. 

 



Castlewood 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 0 

MADISON — Castlewood swept Tripp-Delmont/Armour in SoDak 16 volleyball action and advanced to the Class B state tournament. The set scores were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15.

Castlewood’s Madeline Horn finished with 10 kills, seven digs and two aces. Mackenzie Everson added two blocks, nine kills and 13 digs. Emerson Carter posted eight kills, while Presley Knecht finished with six kills and two blocks. Gracie Haug dished out 29 assists and had nine digs. Archer recorded three aces. 

TDA’s Gracey Schatz finished with nine kills, five digs, four blocks and two aces. Megan Reiner recorded eight kills, nine digs and two blocks. Hannah Stremick posted 18 assists, four digs and two kills. Mia Reiner had three kills. Callie Westendorf and Faith Goehring had 16 and 13 digs, respectively. Mogan Gemar added six digs. 

 



Dakota Valley 3, Baltic 0

CENTERVILLE — Dakota Valley swept Baltic in SoDak 16 volleyball action on Tuesday to advance to the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 25-12, 25-15, and 25-19.

Dakota Valley was led by Claire Munch with 15 kills, 12 digs, and four aces, while Sophie Tuttle  had 13 kills and 15 digs. Jorja Van Den Hul tallied 10 kills and two blocks, while Addison Kleis added four kills. Kate Van Rooyan led with 32 digs, while Logan Miller added 37 assists.

Baltic’s Emma Van Regenmorter led with 11 kills, while Peyton Krull had five kills and 14 digs. Alyx Dobbins had five kills and two blocks, while Baily Teveldal tallied three kills, five digs, and 14 assists. Madison Kennedy had 14 digs, while Jacie Wendland had nine digs and nine assists. Daynica Witzel added nine digs.

 


 

Wagner 3, Winner 0

PLANKINTON — Wagner swept Winner in SoDak 16 volleyball action and punched their ticket to the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 25-14, 25-13, and 25-18.

Wagner’s Emma Yost tallied nine kills and 28 digs, while Avari Bruguier had nine kills and 11 digs. Kya Kjeldgaard had eight kills and four blocks, while Macy Koupal tallied 11 digs and 29 assists. Shalayne Nagel recorded six blocks and four aces, while Shona Kocer had five blocks. Madi Knebel added two aces.
