Nov. 12 Volleyball Roundup - Burke sweeps Harding County for Class B volleyball berth

Burke 3, Harding County 0

PHILLIP — No. 5 Burke swept No. 12 Harding County to qualify for the Class B state tournament Tuesday night. The set scores were 25-11, 25-13, and 25-12.

Burke’s Kailee Frank had 16 kills, 16 digs and one block, Emmie Hausmann had 12 kills and one block, Paige Bull recorded 11 kills and four blocks, Ava Sargent tallied 18 assists and five aces, Emmy Spencer recorded 14 digs, seven assists, and one block, while Kyrie Matucha had 15 digs and seven assists in the win.

Harding County’s stats were not reported.

Burke will face No. 4 Kadoka Area in the opening round of the Class B state tournament.


Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Herreid-Selby Area 0

MELLETTE — No. 3 Hitchcock-Tulare swept No. 14 Herreid/Selby Area in SoDak 16 volleyball action on Tuesday. The set scores were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-21.

HT’s Katelyn Schroeder posted 21 kills, 17 digs and two aces. Rebecca Huizenga had six kills. Cora Hofer added five kills. Lila Johnson posted 23 assists, 11 digs and one block. Isabel Gilbert had three aces. Ella Johnson added two aces. Gracyn Bixler added 15 assists. Cambree Hoekman had 21 digs. 

For HSA, Jordyn Rossow recorded 10 kills. Breanna Jochim finished with 19 digs, five kills, two aces and one block. Katie Allbee had 19 assists and 13 digs, while Paysha Meidinger had four assists. Steph Albee recorded 20 digs and two aces.

Hitchcock-Tulare will face No. 6 Gayville-Volin in the opening round of the Class B state tournament.


Miller 3, Lakota Tech 0

FORT PIERRE — No. 1 Miller swept Lakota Tech to qualify for the Class A state tournament. The set scores were 25-11, 25-11, and 25-10.

Paige Werdel tallied 13 kills and an ace, Aleah Schlechter had 10 kills, five digs, two aces and a block, Olivia Resel dished out 39 assists, Jolie Palmer recorded 16 digs, while Kate Lichty had seven kills, seven digs, two aces and a block in the win for the Rustlers.

Lakota Tech’s stats were not reported.

Miller will face No. 8 Sioux Falls Christian in the opening round of the State A volleyball tournament.


Winner 3, Mobridge-Pollock 2

FORT PIERRE — No. 9 Winner outlasted No. 8 Mobridge-Pollock during Tuesday’s SoDak 16 action. The set scores were 25-23, 12-25, 21-25, 25-20, and 17-15.

Winner’s stats were not reported.

Mobridge-Pollock’s Raelyn Aberle had 21 kills, 18 digs and two aces, Charley Henderson had 18 kills and 16 digs, Tegan Konold tallied 20 digs and five kills, Grave Overland had seven kills and four digs, Sophia Overland totaled 27 assists and 23 digs, Jacy Netterville had 31 digs, while Ellie Kemnitz racked up 17 digs and 12 assists in the loss.

Winner will face No. 3 Dell Rapids in the opening round of the Class A state tournament.
