Watertown 3, Aberdeen Central 0

SIOUX FALLS — Watertown took down Aberdeen Central in straight sets during Friday’s consolation bracket play. The set scores were 25-19, 25-13, and 25-17.

Watertown’s Emery Thury powered the Arrow attack with 22 kills and 17 digs, Grace Corey tallied 41 assists and nine digs, Natalie Pearson had 31 digs in the win, Madisyn Grimsrud and Siri Bach each had six kills, while Kynslee Johnson and Emma Hendricks each totaled 10 digs in the win.

AC’s Lauryn Burckhard tallied 11 kills, five digs and two blocks, Alivia Miller had 19 assists, 13 digs and three kills, Kenadi Wither recorded five kills, 10 digs and two blocks, while Kamdyn Borge had three kills and four digs in the loss.

Watertown advances to Saturday’s consolation championship at 12:45 p.m. and will face No. 6 Sioux Falls Roosevelt, while Aberdeen Central goes up against No. 7 Brandon Valley in the seventh place game at 11 a.m.


Sioux Falls Roosevelt 3, Brandon Valley 0

SIOUX FALLS — No. 6 Sioux Falls Roosevelt swept its way to the State AA consolation championship during Friday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19.

Kaylee Evenson paced the Rough Rider offense with 11 kills, 12 digs and three aces, Avery Allenstein and Izzy Brinkman each had eight kills, with Allenstein tallying six digs and Brinkman totaling 16 digs. Kate Wiebesiek had 28 assists, 12 digs, and three kills, Katie Bleeker tallied 21 digs, five assists and four aces, while Christy Moncur racked up seven digs in the win.

BV’s Jayaunna Stroh and Abby Gruber each had eight kills, Mya VanWesten tallied 17 digs, Logann McGuire recorded 12 assists and five digs, while Riya Sheley tallied eight digs and four assists in the loss.

Roosevelt will face No. 5 Watertown Saturday for the State AA consolation championship at 12:45 p.m., while Brandon Valley takes on No. 8 Aberdeen Central for the seventh place match at 11 a.m.


Harrisburg 3, Sioux Falls O’Gorman 1

SIOUX FALLS — Harrisburg will defend its State AA championship Saturday after defeating Sioux Falls O’Gorman during Friday’s quarterfinal action. The set scores were 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, and 25-21.

Harrisburg’s Gabi Zachariasen tallied 21 kills and 16 digs, Josalyn Samuels recorded 40 assists, 11 kills, and three blocks, Julia Masselink had nine kills and three digs, Keralynn Leach totaled seven kills, four digs, three assists and two aces, Linsay Langner had 11 digs, while Bergen Stiff and Kya Keegan combined for 10 kills in the win.

O’Gorman’s Lauren Venenga recorded 14 kills, four digs, three blocks, two assists and an ace, Kyra Hermanson tallied 32 assists, eight digs, five kills and two aces, Ruthie Robinson tallied nine kills and two digs, Keira McManus rallied seven kills and two digs, Tyla Mauney had 10 digs and six assists, while Tatum Beckman totaled eight digs and six kills in the loss.

Harrisburg will take on Sioux Falls Washington Saturday at 6:45 p.m. in the state championship, while O’Gorman will face Sioux Falls Jefferson in the third place match at 5 p.m.


Sioux Falls Washington 3, Sioux Falls Jefferson 0

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 3 seed Sioux Falls Washington knocked off No. 2 seed Sioux Falls Jefferson winning Friday’s semifinal match in straight sets. The set scores were 25-20, 25-13 and 25-16.

Kaelyn Snoozy led a balanced Washington attack with 17 kills, two assists, three aces and 14 digs. Cate Legal notched 11 kills, an assist and 12 digs while Taryn Kirsch finished with five assists, an ace and 21 digs. Emily Akkerman contributed 29 assists, two kills, five aces and nine digs. 

Leading Sioux Falls Jefferson was Emory Brosnahan with seven kills, 11 digs, and two blocks, Peyten Krull had nine digs and six kills, Averi Schmitt tallied 13 assists and eight digs, Olivia Wachal had five assists and four digs, Isabel Simmons tallied four kills and a block, while Riley Fodness had seven digs in the loss for the Cavaliers.

Sioux Falls Washington advances to the State AA championship and will take on No. 1 Harrisburg, while Jefferson takes on Sioux Falls O’Gorman for third place at 5 p.m. Saturday.
