Mount Vernon-Plankinton 3, Winner 0

SIOUX FALLS — Mount Vernon-Plankinton swept Winner in straight sets to claim seventh place at the Class A state volleyball tournament in Sioux Falls. The set scores were 25-21, 26-24 and 25-21. 

Powering the Titans was Reagan Rus who finished with 18 kills, two assists, one ace, 20 digs and an assisted block. Alyssa Johnson delivered 32 assists, 16 digs and a kill while Madalynn Lorang finished with 10 kills, an ace, an assisted block and 12 digs. Alexis Hauge added 25 digs and two aces while Taryn Hegg notched six kills, five digs, a solo block and an assisted block. 

Gracie Root led Winner with 27 assists, an ace and 20 digs. Keelie Kuil wrapped up her Winner volleyball career with 11 kills, an assist and 19 digs. Livvy Audiss had nine kills and two digs while Lilly Barfuss chipped in with seven kills and seven digs. Preslie Petersek had 13 digs while Adysen Pravacek had seven digs and an assist. 

Miller 3, Sioux Valley 0

SIOUX FALLS — No. 1 Miller pulled out the sweep over No. 7 Sioux Valley to take home the consolation championship at the Class A state volleyball tournament. The set scores were 25-16, 33-31, and 25-12.

Miller’s Paige Werdel collected 13 kills, six digs and two aces, Aleah Schlechter tallied 10 kills, six digs, two blocks and two aces, Olivia Resel had 37 assists, six digs and two aces, Kate Lichty recorded eight kills and 10 digs, while Jolie Palmer had 20 digs, four assists and two aces in the win.

SV’s Adison Renkly had eight kills and six blocks in the loss, Kaedyn Sapp recorded eight kills and 23 digs, Sunny Hesby tallied 12 assists and seven digs, Machaela Gerasch totaled nine assists and nine digs, while Emma Gorvin racked up five blocks for the Cossacks in the loss.
