Oct. 24 Volleyball Roundup - Burke edges Wagner in five-set thriller between ranked foes

Burke 3, Wagner 2

WAGNER — Class B No. 3 Burke outlasted Class A No. 3 Wagner in a five-set high school volleyball match on Monday. The set scores 20-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20 and 15-10.

Burke’s Adisyn Indahl posted 21 kills and 37 digs. Kailee Frank recorded 18 kills, 17 digs and five aces. Emmie Hausmann logged 10 kills and Ellie Johnson posted 50 digs. Elly Witt finished with three aces and 32 assists. Paige Bull had four blocks. 

Wagner’s Avari Bruguier recorded 15 kills, 25 digs and two aces. Emma Yost and Kya Kjeldgaard had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Kjeldgaard posted three blocks. Madi Knebel posted 22 digs and 49 assists. Macy Koupal had seven aces and three blocks. Yost added 32 digs and Shalayne Nagel posted 21 digs. Nagel added seven blocks, while Shona Kocer had nine blocks. 


Wolsey-Wessington 3, Redfield 0

WOLSEY — Class B No. 5 Wolsey-Wessington swept Redfield in Monday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-19, 25-14 and 25-19.

Wolsey-Wessington’s Mya Boomsma finished with 12 kills and 16 digs. Mallory Miller and Leah Williams recorded seven kills apiece. Williams added three aces and 10 digs. Miller posted two blocks. Emree White posted four aces. Lainey Uttecht finished with 16 digs and two aces. Taylor Horn dished out 24 assists, while Kailynn Dorris finished with two aces. 

Redfield’s Katie Rozell finished with five kills, five digs and one block. Camryn Rohlfs finished with 13 assists. 


Chester Area 3, Arlington 0

ARLINGTON — Class B No. 2 Chester Area swept Arlington in Monday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-9, 25-16 and 25-13.

Chester Area’s Lily VanHal recorded 13 kills, 16 digs, four aces and three blocks. Serena Larson posted nine kills, while Emery Larson logged 13 digs and two aces. Emmerson Eppard recorded two blocks. Jacy Wolf posted 13 assists. 

Arlington’s Natalie Burns and Harley Johnson recorded six kills and one block apiece. Tanaya Wiess finished with 19 assists. Madalynn Bacon and Johnson had 10 digs apiece. 


Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 3, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0

RAMONA — Oldham-Ramona/Rutland swept Iroquois/Lake Preston in Monday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-12, 25-22 and 25-22.

ORR’s Julia Trygstad finished with 21 kills and five blocks. Paige Hanson had three aces and 22 assists. Brookelyn Riedel logged 12 assists. Bailey Hyland and Kylee Misar had 11 and seven digs, respectively. 

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt logged five kills and two blocks. Faith Steffensen posted 10 digs, four kills and three blocks. Anna Decker added four kills and 14 digs. Adison Moore recorded 11 digs and six aces. Becca Bich had nine assists, while Trinity Pirlet had three assists. 


Aberdeen Roncalli 3, Deuel 1

CLEAR LAKE — Aberdeen Roncalli logged a four-set high school volleyball win over Deuel on Monday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-9, 19-25 and 25-9.

Roncalli’s McKenna O’Keefe recorded 15 digs, eight kills and one block. Maddie Huber finished with 10 assists, six kills and three aces. Faith Danielson recorded 11 assists and two aces. Camryn Bain finished with 29 digs and three aces. 

Deuel’s Josie Andersen logged seven kills and 13 assists. Emma Hamann posted one ace, seven kills and 19 digs. Harley Hennings finished with three kills. Kayden Russell recorded five assists and four blocks. Hope Bjerke had three blocks and McKenna Olson ahd two blocks. Kaitlyn Gubbrud posted 12 digs.


West Central 3, Tri-Valley 2 

COLTON — West Central outlasted Tri-Valley for a high school volleyball win on Monday. The set scores were 13-25, 19-25, 25-22, 26-24, and 15-6.

Tri-Valley’s Ava Pearson led with 15 kills and three blocks, while Maddie Wenzel tallied 13 kills and two aces. Kenzie Atwood logged 26 digs and one ace, while Erica Bicknase had 24 digs.

West Central’s Aubree Miller finished with 12 kills and 18 digs, while Jocelyn Miller also had 18 digs. Landry Heath had six aces, while Kaia Gabbert had five aces. Marissa Dobbs and Maria Peterson each had two blocks.


Viborg-Hurley 3, Alcester-Hudson 0

VIBORG — Viborg-Hurley swept Alcester-Hudson in straight sets for a high school volleyball win on Monday. The set scores were 25-21, 28-26, and 25-23.

Viborg-Hurley’s Coral Mason led with 12 kills and 29 digs, while Denae Mach logged nine kills and 22 digs. Estelle Lee had seven kills and seven digs, while Mataya Vannorsdel had 27 assists and 10 digs. Charley Nelson had 20 digs and three aces.

Alcester-Hudson’s Alexis Gray had nine kills and 12 digs, while Elly Doering had seven kills, 15 blocks, and eight digs. Ella Serck had 20 assists and 22 digs, while Hannah Ahart had 19 digs. Emma Moller had 18 digs, while Jenna Manning added 10 digs.


Tripp-Delmont/Armour 3, Ethan 0

TRIPP — Tripp-Delmont/Armour swept Ethan in straight sets for a high school volleyball win on Monday. The set scores were 25-17, 25-20, and 25-15.

TDA’s Gracey Schatz led with 17 kills, nine digs, and three aces, while Megan Reiner had 15 kills and 20 digs. Hannah Stremick 27 assists, 12 digs, and three aces, while Mia Reiner added nine digs.

Ethan’s Ava Lingemann had nine kills, 20 digs, and three aces, while Marissa Storm had 15 digs and three kills. Aubrie Biteler had 13 assists and seven digs, while Claire Mellegaard added 12 digs.


Sioux Falls Christian 3, Lennox 0

SIOUX FALLS — Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian swept Lennox in straight sets for a high school volleyball win on Monday. The set scores were 25-13, 25-12, and 25-9.

SFC’s Taylor Byl led with 13 kills, while Peyton Poppema had 10 kills and nine digs. Ellie Lems logged six kills, four digs, and one block, while Addisen Barber had five kills and 31 assists. Sidney Oostra added five kills and eight digs.

Lennox stats were not reported.

 

Vermillion 3, Parker 0

PARKER — Vermillion swept Parker in straight sets in Monday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-9, 25-11 and 25-20.

Vermillion’s Brooklyn Voss finished with 18 kills and five blocks. Brooke Jensen posted eight kills and three blocks. Serena Gapp posted seven kills and 20 digs. Claire Doty recorded 14 assists, 10 digs, seven aces and two kills. Anni Barnett finished with 13 assists and five digs. Kelsey O’Neill had 27 digs and Bailey Baylor logged 12 digs. 

Parker’s Halle Berens finished with nine digs and seven kills. Hailey Phillips recorded 12 digs. Natalie Haase recorded two kills and three digs. Terryn Fuller finished with two kills, five digs and seven assists. Braelyn Berens added 10 digs, while Aspen Rand recorded eight digs. Jenna VanVelzen had three digs. 


Dakota Valley 3, Tea Area 0

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Class A No. 2 Dakota Valley swept Tea Area in Monday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-18, 25-21 and 25-20.

Dakota Valley’s Jorja VanDenHul logged nine kills and four aces. Claire Munch and Sophie Tuttle posted eight kills apiece. Tuttle added two aces. Addie Kleis posted four kills. Logan Miller finished with 32 assists, nine digs and two blocks. Kate VanRoyan and Reagan VanRoyan posted 13 and eight digs, respectively. 

Tea Area’s Lizzy Spah finished with 19 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Mara Grant finished with six kills. Julia Haack recorded nine digs, three kills and one block. Jillian Huenick posted 27 assists, nine digs and one block. Rylan Conrad had three blocks. Gwynn Campbell and Kalli Boom posted 13 and eight digs, respectively. Boom had one ace.
