Potter County 24, Corsica-Stickney 20

CORSICA — No. 11 seed Potter County advanced to the Class 9B semifinals on Thursday.

The Battlers edged No. 3 seed Corsica-Stickney in the quarterfinals and will now play at No. 2 Faulkton Area in the semifinals on Nov. 3.


Landon Larson connected with Jhett Simon for a touchdown pass with two minutes left to lift Potter County to the upset win. Larson threw for 130 yards. 

Corsica-Stickney’s Carter Wright finished with 116 yards rushing on 30 carries.


Canistota 70, Gregory 19 

CANISTOTA — Canistota rolled past Gregory in a Class 9A quarterfinal football game on Thursday. The Hawks rushed for 275 yards on 19 carries. 

Tage Ortman led Canistota with 179 yards rushing on nine carries and scored two touchdowns. Ty Doblar and Brady Scott added touchdown runs. Ortman completed 7 of 11 passes for 273 yards and threw four touchdowns. Doblar hauled in two catches for 16 yards and two touchdowns. Ortman added an interception on defense, while Cayden Scott and Doblar both had 4.5 tackles.

For Gregory, Rylan Peck rushed for 89 yards and scored two touchdowns. Peck completed 12 of 18 passes for 186 yards and threw one touchdown. Luke Stukel hauled in 78 yards receiving and a touchdown. Gannon Thomas had four tackles. 

 

Rapid City Christian 13, Deuel 8

CLEAR LAKE — Simon Kieffer’s fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Wilson Kieffer lifted Rapid City Christian past Deuel in Class 11B playoff action. 

Simon Kieffer passed for 189 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Wilson Kieffer, who hauled in 160 yards receiving. Simon Kieffer added 62 yards rushing. Drake Lindberg had 10 tackles.

For Deuel, Gavin Kloos rushed for 163 yards on 37 carries and scored its lone touchdown. Trey Maaland rushed for 61 yards and passed for 43 yards. Gabe Sather had five tackles.


De Smet 42, Gayville-Volin 0

DE SMET — De Smet blanked Gayville-Volin in Class 9B quarterfinal action on Thursday. De Smet rushed for 221 yards and passed for 173 yards in the win. 

De Smet’s Britt Carlson completed 6 of 9 passes for 173 yards and threw four touchdowns. On defense, he had 11 tackles and three quarterback sacks. Kadyn Fast hauled in a touchdown reception and rushed for 54 yards. Tom Aughenbaugh caught two touchdown passes, while Trace Van Regenmorter hauled in a touchdown. Ganon Henrich rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Slayten Wilkinson and Tristan Olson had 12 tackles apiece. Olson had three sacks. 

Gayville-Volin rushed for 70 yards and passed for 92 yards. 

 

Parkston 28, Hanson 0

PARKSTON — Behind their bruising rushing attack, Class AA No. 1 Parkston rolled into the 9AA semifinals with a shutout win over Hanson in Thursday night football.

Braydon Jervik led the Trojans with 65-yards rushing and three touchdowns. Kolter Kramer led with 92 yards of rushing that included a fumble. Luke Bormann and Gage Reichart combined for 34 rushing yards and a touchdown. Brayden Jervik led the defense with nine tackles and Kaden Holzbauer had an interception.


Howard 28, Elkton-Lake Benton 8

HOWARD — Howard pulled past Elkton-Lake Benton for a Class 9AA playoff win on Thursday.

Karsyn Feldhaus finished with 91 yards rushing, while Tate Miller added 88 yards rushing and one touchdown. Taiden Hoyer had a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown. Luke Koepsell hauled in a touchdown reception. 

ELB’s Colt Beck threw for 92 yards and rushed for 62 yards. Riddick Westley had 141 rushing yards and a touchdown. Tanner Stein hauled in 64 yards receiving. Blake DeVries had 10 tackles.


Dell Rapids 52, Madison 0

DELL RAPIDS — A punishing ground game helped Class 11A No . 1 Dell Rapids shut out Madison in the first round of the playoffs. Mason Stubbe and Jack Henry did much of the leg work combining for 253 yards and two touchdowns. Stubbe had big numbers Thursday with just 11 carries to earn his 153 yards. Sutton Williams had just 32-yards rushing but accounted for three touchdowns. Henry threw just one pass for 53-yards and a touchdown to Cole Ruesink.

Madison finished with just 41 total yards and only six yards of rushing. Cohen Hahn added 55 yards passing for the  Bulldogs. Andrew Comes led the receivers with one catch for 32 yards while Eli Barger had four catches for 26 yards. 


Winner 28, Aberdeen Roncalli 0

WINNER — A stingy defense and a stable of backs that all performed when their number was called helped Class 11B. No. 1 Winner shutout Aberdeen Roncalli. 

Winner’s Aiden Barfuss rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries and had one touchdown. Karson Keiser added 97 yards and a touchdown. Ryken Orel and Jude Sargent each had 38 yards rushing while Stratton Morehart and Gus Bartels combined for 31 yards with each rushing for a touchdown. Keiser had an interception while Shawn Hammerbeck led with five tackles. 

Aiden Fisher led the Cavaliers with 20-yards rushing and completed seven passes for 57 yards with one thrown interception. Keegan Stewart caught two passes for 33 yards. 


Elk-Point Jefferson 14, Tri-Valley 7

ELK POINT — Elk Point-Jefferson topped Tri-Valley in Class 11B quarterfinal action on Thursday. 

EPJ’s Jacob Gale rushed for 78 yards, while Keaton Gale added 30 yards rushing. Gunner Ewing had a two-yard touchdown run. Keaton Gale completed 4 of 11 passes for 23 yards. Carson Timmins had 18 receiving yards. Ashton Fairbanks had a pick-six. 

Tri-Valley’s Colby Carruthers rushed for 42 yards and had a touchdown. Brody Dybvig had 63 yards rushing.
