Brandon Valley sweeps team titles at Pierre Legion Relays

PIERRE — The Brandon Valley boys and girls track and field teams won team titles Thursday at the Legion Relays in Pierre.

The boys team scored 158 points to take the title, ahead of Sioux Falls Washington (132) and Pierre (103). The BV girls ran away with 193 points, ahead of Pierre (126) and SF Washington (96).

In the boys' meet, Pierre’s Karson Walti won the 100-meter dash (:10.73).

Mitchell’s Alexier Padilla took first place in the 200-meter dash (:22.05) and the 400-meter race (:51.47).

Brandon Valley’s Mikah Peters secured the 1,600-meter race (4:24.67) while teammate John Toates secured the 3,200-meter run (10:23.35).

Sioux Falls Washington’s Jeremia Ezekiel took the 110-meter hurdles while Tyler Pankonin took the 300-meter hurdles (:41.83) for the Warriors. Washington’s Cole Reilly won the 800-meter race (2:02.27) as well.

Pierre’s Carter Schiefelbein, Porter Hunsley, George Rapp and Karson Walti won the 400-meter relay (:43.57).

Washington’s Bronson Schramm, Quinton Hall, Jeremiah Humphrey and Pankonin secured the 800-meter relay (1:32.55) while Griffin Miller, Hena Abreham, Jackson Boltjes and Ben Parson won the 3,200-meter relay (8:29.21) for the Warriors.

Washington’s McGibson Myers, Humphrey, Schramm and Miller also won the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (3:46.82).

BV’s Ayden Van Laecken, Caelen Christion, Ben Williams and Peters took the 1,600-meter relay (3:33.29).

In the field events, Pierre’s Cactus Korkow won the discus (150-02) while Corde Austin secured the long jump (22-04).

Washington’s Quinton Hall secured the high jump event (6-04).

BV’s Chayce Hartman broke a meet record to win the javelin throw (172-03). Benjamin Anfinson secured the pole vault title (13-03) as well.

BV’s Landon Voight took first place in the shot put (50-11.00) while Isaac Kutey took the triple jump event (43-05.00).

In the girls' meet, Pierre’s Charlee Williams-Smith won the 100-meter (:11.97), 200-meter (:25.35) and 400-meter (:58.76) races.

Washington’s Marissa Bouwman secured the 800-meter race (2:29.60) and 1,600-meter run (5:32.20).

BV’s Peyton Beatch took the 3,200-meter race (12:23.86).

Brandon Valley’s Shelby Bergan secured the 110-meter hurdles (:15.55).

Lead-Deadwood’s Atty Eastman took the 300-meter hurdles (:49.37).

Pierre’s Emlyn Swanson, Zoey Bauer, Brooke Hansen and WIlliams-Smith secured the 400-meter relay (:51.45).

BV’s Brooklyn Goetzinger, Audrina Schmidt, Logan Walkes and Kadance Coughlin won the 800-meter relay (1:48.61) while Addison Scholten, Claire Minion, Goetzinger and Bergan took the 1,600-meter relay (4:07.57).

Pierre’s Emery Larson, Harper Schaefer, Devyn Van Roekel and Gwen Richter took the 3,200-meter relay (10:15.99).

In the field events, Huron’s Isabelle Kremer took the discus throw (112-06).

Washington’s Finley Langenfeld took the javelin throw (121-05).

BV’s Elizabeth Rohmiller won the shot put event (37-02.25).

SF Jefferson’s Baya Carlson took first place in the pole vault (11-01).

BV’s Jayaunna Stroh won the high jump event (5-02) while Kadance Coughlin secured two titles in the long jump (17-05.00) and triple jump (37-06.00).
