Oct. 6 Football Roundup - Mason Stubbe powers No. 1 Dell Rapids to 53-7 win over Chamberlain

Dell Rapids 53, Chamberlain 7

CHAMBERLAIN — Mason Stubbe scored three rushing touchdowns as Class 11A No. 1 Dell Rapids stayed undefeated on Friday in high school football action.

Stubbe rushed for 103 yards on nine carries and scored three times for Dell Rapids, which racked up 355 yards on the ground. Stubbe added a 59-yard punt return for a score. 

Cole Ruesink, Jack Henry and Treyse Eastman added rushing scores. Ruesink rushed for 79 yards and Henry added 61 yards rushing. Henry passed for 35 yards, including 27 to Ruesink. Henry had five tackles on defense. 

Chamberlain’s Cruz Soulek completed 6 of 11 passes for 38 yards. Austin Rose rushed for 35 yards and Levi Miller had 11 yards receiving. Devyn Anderson had five tackles. 


Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 50, McCook Central/Montrose 6

BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan picked up a convincing victory and coach Jeff VanLeur earned his 300th career coaching win on Friday.

BEE’s Drake Gustafson rushed for four touchdowns, while he threw a pair of touchdown passes to Taite Klumb. Kean Stevenson added a pick-six for the Seahawks. 


Winner 28, West Central 0

HARTFORD — Class 11B No. 1 Winner used a smothering defense and a bruising running attack to knock off Class 11A No. 2 West Central in Friday night football action. 

Aiden Barfuss led the Warrior rushing attack with 54 yards and three touchdowns. Karson Keiser added 81 yards while Jude Sargent tacked on 37 yards on the ground. Winner did not throw a pass the entire game but quarterback Stratton Morehart had 24-yards on the ground and one touchdown. Winner held West Central to 18 rushing yards and 72 passing yards. Gus Bartels led the defense with three tackles as West Central had just one second half possession. 

West Central stats were not reported.


Madison 14, Lennox 8

LENNOX — Madison used two touchdown passes from two different quarterbacks to earn a win at Class 11A No. 5 Lennox in Friday night football action. 

Cohen Hahn passed for 178-yards and a touchdown while Jordan Pederson completed one pass for 70 yards and a touchdown. Shane Veenhof caught six passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. Eli Barger rushed for 40-yards and caught seven passes for 52 yards while Andrew Comes garnered 25 yards receiving and one touchdown. Cohen Hahn added 40 yards of rushing while Jordan Pederson had 25 yards on the ground.

Tate Gerdes led Lennox with 103 yards rushing receiving while Trey Gerdes had 54 yards rushing with one touchdown and 56 yards receiving. Boston Katzer completed 18 passes for 175 yards.  


Tea Area 62, Spearfish 13

SPEARFISH — Class 11AA No. 3 Tea Area rushed for 279 yards on their way to a win over Spearfish on Friday night football action in Spearfish. 

Brennan Konrad did most of the damage for the Titans with 121 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Cole McKinney added 79 yards on the ground while Keegan DeYoung had 26 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Ethan Vis had the other touchdown run for the Spartans. 

Sam Werdel led the Tea defense with nine tackles.

Spearfish quarterback Seth Hamilton finished with 117 yards passing and rushed for seven yards and one touchdown. Hunter Walters led the Spartans with 30-yards rushing and one touchdown. Walters was also Spearfish’s leading tackler with seven stops, including five solo tackles. 

 

Harding County/Bison 48, Timber Lake 28 

TIMBER LAKE — Rylee Veal powered Class 9A No. 5 Harding County/Bison’s ground game in a Friday night high school football win over Timber Lake.

Veal finished with 273 rushing yards on 38 carries and scored five touchdowns. Braden Routier added 75 rushing yards and a touchdown, while R.J. Meyer added 57 yards rushing and a score. Hayden Pihl completed eight passes for 71 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Brennan Glines. Payton Dvorak racked up six tackles.

Timber Lake’s Gracen Hansen rushed for 181 yards on 24 carries and scored three touchdowns. Hansen completed six passes for 56 yards. Holden Gill added 31 yards rushing and a score. Cole Ducheneaux rushed for 16 yards and scored a touchdown. Gavin Farlee hauled in 26 yards receiving. Ducheneaux and Farlee had 11 tackles apiece, while Farlee intercepted a pass. Dan Peterson posted 10 tackles.

 

Wall 37, Kimball/White Lake 8

WALL — Class 9AA No. 4 Wall picked up a Friday high school football win over Kimball/White Lake. 

Iden Myers led KWL with 162 rushing yards, while he posted 12 tackles on defense. Blake Leiferman led the WiLdKats with 52 receiving yards and including one TD. Leiferman also led the team in tackles with 13. Lantz Bass recorded 134 return yards. Bass also had 45 yards receiving.

 

Herreid/Selby Area 36, Potter County 30

HERREID — Herreid/Selby Area held off Potter County for a Friday night high school football win. 

Wayde Grage completed 9 of 19 passes for 158 yards and threw two touchdown passes. Trevor Gill hauled in five catches for 124 yards and two touchdown passes. Porter Gregg added 117 rushing yards on 18 carries. Houston Hauge rushed for 85 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns. Tanner Dryer posted nine tackles on defense, while Collin Tisdall had seven tackles. 

For Potter County, Ryder Falkenhagen accounted for four total touchdowns. He rushed for a pair of scores, while he hauled in a pair of touchdown catches from Landon Larson. Carter Luikens and Ethan Johnson connected for a touchdown reception.


Sunshine Bible Academy 41, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 31

MILLER — A huge night from running back Troy Paul helped Sunshine Bible Academy to their first win of the season over Oldham-Ramona-Rutland in Friday night football action. 

Paul carried the ball 28 times for 216 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Trey Thieman completed five passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Jimmy Burma caught three passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively Thieman, Burma and Ezra Stiegelmeir each had fumble recoveries for the Crusaders. 

Oldham-Ramona-Rutland finished with 300 yards rushing with Cooper Merager having 162 yards and a touchdown. Brock Eppe added 126 yards and scored two touchdowns. 


Ipswich 49, Dupree 18

IPSWICH — The Ipswich Tigers wrapped up their regular season with a 4-4 record after earning a win over Dupree in Friday night football action.  

Sophomore Kyle Hettich powered the Ipswich rushing attack with 167 yards on seven carries that resulted in three touchdowns. Another sophomore running back Casey Geditz added 111 rushing yards and had two rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Max Kulesa finished with 157 yards passing with Chet Peterson catching five balls for 85 yards.

Bobby Brewer led Dupree with 82 yards rushing. Quarterback Roger Eaton had 28 yards rushing while adding 106 yards passing with one interception. 


Elkton-Lake Benton 54, Florence-Henry  0

ELKTON — Class 9AA No. 5 Elkton-Lake Benton defense pitched a shutout against Florence-Henry to earn a win in Friday night football action.

Elkton-Lake Benton ground out 205 yards rushing Colt Beck having 72 yards and a touchdown. Blake DeVries added 69 yards and two rushing touchdowns while Riddick Westley had 52-yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Colt Beck finished with 141 yards passing and one touchdown Quinten Poindexter who led with 55 yards receiving.

Florence-Henry quarterback Dawson Lantgen finished with 55 yards passing. Tucker Keller had 25 yards receiving while Tate Hartley had one catch for 22 yards. 


Dakota Valley 54, Lakota Tech 0

NORTH SIOUX CITY — A balanced offensive attack helped Dakota Valley roll to a Friday night football win over Lakota Tech. 

Jackson Boonstra led Dakota Valley with 67 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Bennett Lukken had 46 yards on the ground and one touchdown with Preston Konopasek having 44 yards and two touchdown runs. Quarterback Drew Lukken completed four passes for 53 yards and touchdown passes to Grant Vandenhaul and Grady Ramos. 

Ethan Steele led Lakota Tech with 36 rushing yards. Steele led the Tatanka with 11 tackles while Davonte Ross had four and Jacob Hadden had three stops.
