Newell 3, New Underwood 0

NEWELL — Newell swept New Underwood in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-16, 25-15 and 25-17. 


Centerville 3, Avon 2

AVON — Centerville topped Avon in a five-set thriller during Thursday’s high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-16, 16-25, 25-17, 18-25, and 16-14.

Centerville’s Althea Gust recorded 15 kills and nine digs, Emma Marshall had 10 kills and nine digs. Tessa Eide tallied 26 digs, Keira Austin dished out 35 assists, Lillee Shearer had seven blocks while Addison Buckneberg recorded five blocks in the win.. 

Avon’s Lila Vanderlei had 25 kills, 14 digs, and a block, Rilyn Thury recorded 20 kills, two aces and 20 digs, Jordyn Voigt had 19 digs and two aces, while Brielle Voigt tallied 14 digs, 46 assists, and three aces in the loss.


Burke 3, Gregory 1

BURKE — Class B No. 2 Burke defeated Gregory in four-sets during high school volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-8, 22-25, 25-10, and 25-10.

Burke’s Emmie Hausmann recorded 20 kills, a block, and two aces, Kaillee Frank had 12 kills and an ace, Paige Bull tallied 12 kills and five blocks, Kyrie Matucha had 19 digs and eight assists, Ava Sargent dished out 20 assists and 13 digs while Emmy Spencer tallied 14 assists in the win.

Gregory’s stats were not reported.


Baltic 3, Sioux Valley 1

BALTIC — Class A No. 5 Baltic took down Sioux Valley in four sets during Thursday’s high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-17, 26-28, 25-19, and 25-21.

Baltic’s Daynica Witzel had 15 kills and 18 digs, Maiya Fredrickson recorded 10 kills and seven digs, Meredith Larson and Caitlin Pickett each had six kills, Tenley Witzel recorded eight kills and 16 digs, while Sophie Even dished out 41 assists in the win.

SV’s Emma Gorvin tallied 10 kills and 17 digs, Kaedyn Sapp recorded nine kills and 18 digs. Machaela Gerasch tallied 18 assists while Sunny Hesby tallied 14 in the loss.


Milbank 3, Tiospa Zina 0

AGENCY VILLAGE — Milbank swept Tiospa Zina in three sets to pick up a win in Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-18, 25-12 and 25-12. 

Powering Milbank was Claire Snaza who put down 13 kills and had two blocks. Rylee Scoular led the team with 17 assists and Addisyn Krause had four aces, 10 assists and a kill. Isabella Anderson added three aces and five kills and Siera Wenzl finished with three aces and four kills. Avery Schuneman had six kills and Adison Pauli notched two aces. 

Stats for Tiospa Zina were not reported. 


Groton Area 3, Deuel 0

CLEAR LAKE — Groton Area swept Deuel during Thursday’s football action. The set scores were 25-14, 25-16, and 25-11.

Groton Area’s Rylee Dunker tallied 11 kills and three blocks, Chesney Weber had seven kills, nine assists, seven digs, and one block, Jaedyn Penning recorded four aces, four assists and six digs. Faith Traphagen tallied six kills and a block, while Liz Fliehs dished out 15 assists in the win.

Deuel’s Alayna Carlson had four kills, Addison Timmons tallied 10 digs, while Ella Kerkvliet had six digs in the loss.


Sioux Falls Christian 3, Tri-Valley 0 

SIOUX FALLS — Class A No. 3 Sioux Falls Christian swept Tri-Valley in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-11.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Brietta Tims finished with 11 kills, five digs and one ace. Rachel Dieleman had eight kills and three blocks. Addisen Barber totaled five kills, one ace, three blocks, three digs and 28 assists. Camdyn Mudder posted five kills. Jayla Overman added five kills, one ace and one dig. Chloe Bosma posted 13 digs. 

For Tri-Valley, Maddie Wenzel and Emery Pearson posted five kills apiece. Emry Jones had three blocks. Cheyenne Hanson logged nine digs, while Macey Boese posted eight digs. Abby Wagner had seven assists, while Emily Wenzel posted five digs. 


Chester 3, Parker 0

CHESTER — Class B No. 1 Chester swept Parker in Thursday’s high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-13, 25-9 and 25-8. 

Powering Chester to the win was Lily Van Hal who served nine aces and had 24 assists. Jacy Wolf contributed 11 kills and Emmerson Eppard finished with 10 kills. Gracie Huntimer led the Flyers with 10 digs.

Halle Berens led Parker with five kills while Alyeska Petersen had two aces and two kills. Hannah Schaeffer finished with seven assists and Braelyn Berens notched 10 digs. 


Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Ipswich 0

TULARE — Class B No. 4 Hitchcock-Tulare swept Ipswich in Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 26-24. 25-8 and 25-23.

Leading the Patriots was Katelyn Schroeder who tallied 23 kills and recorded 14 digs. Lila Johnson led the team with 23 assists and Gracyn Bixler finished with 11 assists. Johnson and Isabel Gilbert each had aces and Cambre Hoekman led the team with 25 digs. 

Marley Guthmiller led Ipswich with 13 kills. Josie Knutson led the Tigers with 14 assists and had 11 digs with Brianna Geditz chipped in with two aces and 20 digs. 


Northwestern 3, Potter County 0

HOVEN — Class B No. 5 Northwestern swept Potter County during Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-13, 25-9, and 25-18.

Northwestern’s Ashley Haven tallied 10 kills and two aces, Breelyn Sattler had nine kills and two blocks, Ella Boekelheide recorded 30 assists and 12 digs, while Tara Blachford had 12 digs in the win as well.

Potter County’s stats were not reported.


Colman-Egan 3, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 0

RUTLAND — Colman-Egan swept Oldham-Ramona-Rutland during Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-16, 25-18, and 25-15.

Colman-Egan’s Brynlee Landis tallied 11 kills, seven digs, and four aces, Kaylee Voelker had 13 assists, five aces, and three blocks, Finley Luze tallied nine assists, while Elaina Rhode had seven kills in the win.

ORR’s stats were not reported.


Webster 3, Redfield 0

REDFIELD — Webster swept Redfield in straight sets during Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-19, 25-23 and 25-19. 

Leading the Bearcats was Allie Case who contributed three aces and 14 digs. Jersey Johnson had 24 digs and Katie Braun led the setters with 10 assists. Mallory Steiner and Erin Sonnes combined for 14 kills and Harley Johnson chipped in with eight assists. 

Kinsley Smith led Redfield with five kills. Brynn Giblin had two assisted blocks and Hayden Gall tallied 13 assists.
