Oct. 5 Volleyball Roundup - Hitchcock-Tulare wins 281 Conference championship, improves to 23-0

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Class B No. 4 Hitchcock-Tulare won the 281 Conference volleyball tournament on Saturday. The Patriots defeated Wolsey-Wessington (25-20 and 25-8) in the title match and improved to 23-0.

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Katelyn Schroeder finished with eight kills, 11 digs, four blocks and one ace. Lila Johnson posted five kills and four assists. Ella Johnson added six aces. Gracyn Bixler posted nine assists. Isabel Gilbert logged seven blocks. Cambree Hoekman had seven digs. 

For Wolsey-Wessington, Samara Clemente finished with four kills and two blocks. Roxy Glanzer logged two kills and one ace. Kendal Uttecht posted 10 assists and eight digs. Shae Uttecht posted 11 digs. Timber Haeder had three blocks. 

The Patriots also defeated Sunshine Bible Academy (25-10, 25-3) and Wessington Springs (25-15, 25-4). 

In the third-place match, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket defeated Wessington Springs (21-25, 25-19, 25-19)

In the fifth-place match, Highmore-Harrold defeated Iroquois/Lake Preston (25-19, 22-25, 25-21). 

In the seventh-place match, James Valley Christian defeated Sunshine Bible Academy (25-23, 25-22). 


Mobridge-Pollock 3, Winner 0

MOBRIDGE — Mobridge-Pollock swept Winner in Saturday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-14, 25-17 and 25-16.

Mobridge-Pollock’s Raelyn Aberle finished with 20 kills, eight digs and two aces. Charley Henderson logged 11 digs, nine kills and three aces. Tegan Konold and Jayda Thompson had four kills apiece. Jacy Netterville added 15 digs, while Konold had 12 digs and two aces. Sophia Overland had nine digs. Ellie Kemnitz posted 11 assists. 

For Winner, Lilly Barfuss recorded nine kills and one block. Keelie Kuil posted five kills and one ace. Grace Root posted 15 assists. Payton Sargent logged four blocks. Cora Moss added 15 digs. Alice Wilson posted three assists. Adysen Pravecek had one ace. 


Wagner 3, Tri-Valley 2

WAGNER — Wagner outlasted Tri-Valley for a five-set high school volleyball match victory on Saturday.

Wagner’s Ravyn Medricky and Hannah Holzbauer finished with 14 kills apiece. Brylie Link and Braxton Nedved added eight kills apiece. Libby Kotab had 29 digs and two aces. Nedved posted 18 digs, four blocks and three aces. Holzbauer posted 14 digs and four blocks. Nedved had 53 assists. Medricky posted six blocks. 

For Tri-Valley, Tori O’Toole recorded 16 kills and Maddie Wenzel logged 14 kills. Brooke Steineke had six aces and 26 digs. Macey Boese added 18 digs. Abby Wagner and Emily Wenzel posted 18 assists apiece. Emry Jones added three blocks. 


Brandon Valley 3, Pierre 1

BRANDON — Brandon Valley defeated Pierre in a four-set high school volleyball match on Saturday. The set scores were 19-25, 25-13, 25-9 and 25-16.

Brandon Valley’s Abby Gruber logged 17 kills and two blocks. Jayaunna Stroh posted 12 kills and three blocks. Mya VanWesten finished with 21 digs. Jayna James added 11 digs. Logan McGuire had 31 assists and three aces. Ashley Ertelt posted three aces and two blocks. Riya Sheley had 18 assists.
