Oct. 6 Cross-Country Roundup - Belle Fourche boys, Spearfish girls win Black Hills Conference titles

SPEARFISH — The Belle Fourche boys and Spearfish girls won team titles at Thursday’s Black Hills Conference cross-country meet. 

The Belle Fourche boys logged 27 points, finishing ahead of Hill City (34) and Sturgis (54). The Spearfish girls finished with 15 points, finishing ahead of Sturgis (39) and Custer (42).

Individually, Belle Fourche’s Sawyer Clarkson (15:18.34) and Lane Krautschun (15:54.23) finished second and third, respectively. Hill City’s Luke Rupert (16:12.08), Douglas’ Peyton Cast (16:19.45) and Custer’s Gage Grohs (16:19.94) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Spearfish’s Peyton VanDeest won the girls 5,000-meter run in 18:26.65. Custer’s Ramsey Karim (19:23.03) and Spearfish’s Kori Keil (19:25.78) were second and third, respectively. Spearfish’s Auna Taglioli (19:26.08) and Douglas’ Kira Ubence (19:30.34) rounded out the top-five runners. 


Flandreau boys, Sioux Valley girls win Big East Conference titles

BERESFORD — The Flandreau boys and Sioux Valley girls won Big East Conference cross-country titles on Thursday.

The Sioux Valley girls recorded 15 points, finishing ahead of Flandreau (30) and Baltic (39). The Flandreau boys posted 23 points, finishing in front of Beresford (40) and Baltic (48). 

Chester Area’s Emery Larson the girls 5,000-meter run in 17 minutes and :58.95 seconds at Bridges Golf Course. Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker (18:08.74) and Flandreau’s Faith Wiese (19:44.82) were second and third, respectively. Sioux Valley’s Liberty Trygstad (20:18.81) and Baltic’s Bailey Tiahrt (20:52.31) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Beresford’s Andrew Atwood won the boys 5,000-meter race in 16:52.88. Baltic’s John Gronewold (17:16.34) and Garretson’s Preston Bohl (17:30.30) were second and third, respectively. Baltic’s Alex Langner (17:50.80) and Flandreau’s Tanner Reed (17:58.74) rounded out the top-five finishers. 


Milbank boys, Clark/Willow Lake girls claim NEC championships

WEBSTER — The Milbank boys and Clark/Willow Lake girls won team titles at Thursday’s Northeast Conference cross-country meet. 

The Milbank boys won the team title 14 points. Deuel (46) and Aberdeen Roncalli (47) finished second and third, respectively. 

The Clark/Willow Lake girls finished with 17 points, edging out Milbank (25) for the team title. Aberdeen Roncalli (48) and Webster Area (74) rounded out the team scores. 

Individually, Milbank’s Payton Brown (16:51.26) won the boys 5,000-meter run. Deuel’s Ricky Berndt (17:38.32) and Milbank’s James Batchelor (17:45.67) finished second and third, respectively. Milbank’s Bryan Meyer (18:38.01) and Clark/Willow Lake’s Cooper Pommer (18:46.59) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan won the girls 5,000-meter run in 20:16.21. Milbank’s Ashlynn Batchelor (20:26.02) and Clark/Willow Lake’s Kamryn Nesheim (20:45.44) were second and third, respectively. Aberdeen Roncalli’s Addison Cassady (21:31.27) and Clark/Willow Lake’s Cadence Bochek (21:32.55) rounded out the top-five runners.
