Philip's Evan Kroetch earns two first-place finishes as Scotties win Charger Invitational

ONIDA — The Ipswich girls and Philip boys won team titles at Tuesday’s Charger Invitational track and field meet. 

The Ipswich girls finished with 130 points, ahead of Lemmon (85) and Herreid/Selby Area (82). The Philip boys recorded 130 points, ahead of Ipswich (106) and North Central (76). 

In boys action, Ipswich’s Kyle Hettich was a double winner in the 100-meter dash (:10.95) and 200-meter dash (:23.17). Hettich also anchored the winning 400-meter relay (:44.71) with Rasmus Loken, Maxwell Kulesa and Casey Geditz. 

Philip’s Evan Kroetch captured first-place finishes in the shot put (44-9) and discus (143-7). Philip’s Baylor Burns won the 800-meter run (2:01.90) and placed second in the 1,600-meter run (4:39.65). 

North Central’s Gabe Johnson was a double winner in the 1,600-meter run (4:34.92) and 3,200-meter run (10:15.41).

Faulkton Area’s Spencer Melius won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.72) and 300-meter hurdles (:42.67). Melius added a third-place finish in the javelin (143-5). 

Lemmon’s Blair Ham won the javelin (161-10), placed second in the discus (140-7) and third in the shot put (42-6.25). 

Jones County won the sprint medley relay (3:50.28) and 1,600-meter relay (3:32.96). 

In girls action, Herreid/Selby Area’s Breanna Jochim won the 100-meter dash (:12.92) and anchored the winning 400-meter relay (:52.18) and 800-meter relay (1:50.77). She also placed second in the long jump (16-4). 

Potter County’s Dannika Kaup, Jadyn Ahlemeier, Finlee Heien and Emma Schlachter won the 1,600-meter relay (4:16.04). Schlachter won the 800-meter run (2:28.12). 

Lemmon’s Karly Riley won the 3,200-meter run (12:10.90) and teamed up with Brynn Odenbach, Jordyn Kohn and Chel Odenbach to win the 3,200-meter relay (10:15.24). 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Emma Schneider was a double winner in the long jump (16-8) and triple jump (34-0). 

Sully Buttes’ Payge Bakker won the discus (104-2) and placed third in the shot put (32-7.5).
