Philip boys, Lemmon girls win Region 5B team cross-country titles
Wakely Burns, Asher Peterson and Baylor Burns were the top-three finishers for the Philip Scotties at Wednesday's Region 5A meet

PHILIP — The Philip boys and Lemmon girls easily won team titles at Wednesday’s Region 5A meet run on the Lake Waggoner Golf Course. 

The Philip boys had a perfect score of six, well ahead of Lemmon (26) and Newell (39). White River (42) and New Underwood (55) rounded out the top-five team finishers.

Nearly as dominant the Lemmon girls won the Region 5B title scoring just eight points, ahead of Jones County (21) and Newell (29). The Wall girls scored 39 points and finished in fourth place. 

In the boys individual race Philip sophomore Baylor Burns won the region title covering the 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes and 53.44 seconds, ahead of teammates Asher Peterson (16:58) and Wakely Burns (17:09). Philp teammates Tukker Boe (17:47) and Trey Larson (17:51) completed the Philip sweep of the top-five runners. 

In the girls race Lemmon’s Karly Riley ran the 5,000-meter course in 20:55, ahead of Jones County eighth grader BreAna Aske (21:30) and Lemmon’s Brynn Odenbach (21:55). Lemmon teammates Chei Odenbach (21:56) and Natalie Dreiske (22:00) rounded out the top-five individual finishers.
