Pierre leads Day 1 of Class A state tennis tourney

RAPID CITY — The Pierre girls tennis team leads the team standings after Day 1 of the Class A state tournament. 

The Governors earned 300 points, leading Sioux Falls Christian (271) and St. Thomas More (252). 

Pierre’s Sydney Tedrow (Flight 1), Kara Weiss (Flight 2), Marlee Shorter (Flight 3), Jocelyn Corrales (Flight 4), Kourtney Walti (Flight 5) and Caitlin Ott (Flight 6) all advanced to Tuesday’s championship semifinals. In doubles action, Tedrow/Weiss (Flight 1), Shorter/Walti (Flight 2) and Corrales/Ott (Flight 3) all advanced to Tuesday’s championship semifinals.
