Potter County's Dannika Kaup, Nicholas Schlachter claim Region 4B cross-country titles

GETTYSBURG — Potter County’s Dannika Kaup and Nicholas Schlachter won individual races at Wednesday’s Region 4B cross-country meet.

Kaup covered the 5,000-meter race at Gettysburg Country Club in 19 minutes and :12.60 seconds. Potter County’s Emma Schlachter (18:38.50) and Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis (19:49.10) finished second and third, respectively. Potter County’s Jadyn Ahlemeier (20:04.60) and Herreid/Selby Area’s Katie Allbee (21:10.20) rounded out the top-five runners.

On the boys side, Schlachter won the 5,000-meter race in 16:39.70. Herreid/Selby Area’s Gavin Hirsch (17:08.60) and Timber Lake’s Xavier Sanchez-Gonzalez (18:20.70) placed second and third, respectively. Sunshine Bible Academy’s Jimmy Burma (18:27.30) and Wakpala’s Marty Plenty Chief (18:33.70) rounded out the top-five runners. 

The Potter County girls won the team title with seven points, finishing well ahead of Herreid/Selby Area (22) and Highmore-Harrold (33) for the team title. The Highmore-Harrold boys won the team title with 15 points, finishing ahead of Potter County (22), Sunshine Bible Academy (28) and Herreid/Selby Area (28).
