Potter County girls, McLaughlin boys win Yellowstone Trail Conference titles
The Potter County girls had another perfect score at Wednesday's pre-region meet in Gettysburg.

GETTYSBURG — The Potter County girls and the McLaughlin boys won cross-country titles at Wednesday’s CSDC/YTC/Pre-Region meet run at the Gettysburg Country Club. 

The Potter County girls swept the top-four places and cruised to the team title scoring six points, ahead of North Central(23) and Herreid/Selby Area (37). 

The McLaughlin boys led by individual champion Jayden Taken Alive won the boys team title scoring 14 points, ahead of North Central (18). Herreid/Selby Area (29) and Potter County (30) rounded out the top-four boys teams. 

Dannika Kaup won the girls individual race covering the 5,000-meter course in 19:20, ahead of teammates Emma Schlachter (19:53) and Jadyn Ahlemeier (20:03). Potter County eighth-grader Paige Ahlemeier (21:18) and North Central’s Grace Roth (21:34) rounded out the top-five team finishers. 

Taken Alive, a sophomore at McLaughlin, won the boys race covering the 5,000-meter course in 16:34, ahead of Potter County senior Nicholas Schlachter (16:39) and McLaughlin’s Wamni Kills Crow (17:01). Herreid/Selby Area’s Gavin Hirsch (17:23) and North Central’s Gabe Johnson (17:50) rounded out the top-five boys.
