Potter County girls, North Central boys claim Region 4B cross-country titles

GETTYSBURG — The Potter County girls and North Central boys captured team titles at Wednesday’s Region 4B cross-country meet. 

Running at Gettysburg Country Club, the Battler girls recorded 13 points to earn the region championship. Herreid/Selby Area (25) and North Central (29) finished second and third, respectively. 

On the boy side, North Central scored 10 points to secure the region title. Highmore-Harrold (24) and Herreid/Selby Area (28) placed second and third, respectively. 

Individually, Potter County’s Dannika Kaup covered the 5,000-meter distance in 19 minutes and :31.96 seconds to win the region title. Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis (19:56.80) and Jones County’s BreAna Aske (20:05.63) finished second and third, respectively. Wolsey-Wessington’s Kendal Uttecht (20:10.53) and Potter County’s Jaycee Stevens (20:38.92) rounded out the top-five runners.

On the boys side, McLaughlin’s Wamni Kills Crow won the 5,000-meter run in 16:49.53. North Central’s Gabe Johnson (16:53.52) and Herreid/Selby Area’s Gavin Hirsch (17:08.48) rounded out the top-three runners. Highmore-Harrold’s Brooks McPeak (17:19.06) and North Central’s Avery Wells (17:27.99) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
