RAPID CITY — Rapid City Central High School’s Karl the Cobbler has won The 64’s America’s Best High School Mascot contest. Karl the Cobbler took first place in the national competition through a series of online nationwide votes.

Karl the Cobbler was joined in the final four by the Hutto Hippos (Texas), Hampton Crabbers (Virginia), and Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman (New York). In the championship round, Karl the Cobbler defeated the Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman mascot.

Earlier this season, Rapid City Central celebrated 100 years of Karl the Cobbler being the school’s official mascot. The school will celebrate Karl the Cobbler winning the contest on Wednesday.
