Rapid City Stevens opens Day 1 lead at Class AA state girls tennis tourney

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Stevens has opened up a 34-point lead after Day 1 of the Class AA state girls tennis tournament on Thursday. 

The Raiders recorded 300 points on Day 1, ahead of Lincoln (266) and Watertown (224). Mitchell (220) and Aberdeen Central (217) round out the top-five teams. 


In singles action, Stevens’ Arabella Scott (Flight 1), Sylvie Mortimer (Flight 2), Ella Potvin (Flight 3), Madison Marsh (Flight 4), Bella Nelson (Flight 5), and Brooke Cadwallader (Flight 6) are in the championship semifinals. 

In doubles action, Mortimer and Potvin (Flight 1), Scott and Elena Braun (Flight 2) and Marsh and Bella Nelson (Flight 3) are in the championship semifinals for Stevens.
